Why won't she tell me who she likes?

A girl at my school tells me about how guys are hitting on her after her recent breakup. She tells me her emotions are dead and I said that she needs to find someone who sparks those feelings and makes them feel alive again. So I ask her who is that person and she won't tell me, she says he is afraid to. Don't worry I'm not friend zoned and she confirmed it. But why won't she tell me who she likes... its not like anything bad is going to happen...

I don't know the girl personally but asking if you are friend zoned is on the same grounds as asking if you are ugly. People aren't inclined to give you the answer you don't want to hear because it may hurt your feelings.

Now she may be refusing to tell you because she likes you, going off of the afraid to tel you who she likes. The fear may be fear you'd reject her. But that fear of rejection may also be from her still liking the guy that she just broke up with or another guy you may not approve of, OR she may not like anyone and is afraid to tell you because you may not be there for her anymore if you find out your cards aren't on the table.

In my opinion if you she tells you how she doesn't feel emotionally capable of a relationship or is complaining about guys hitting on her after her recent break-up then maybe just back off for a bit and just be there for her, you don't want to be a rebound. If you are there for her then when she is ready will let you know through more obvious subtle hints.

she either:

-likes you and is afraid of rejection

-is unsure of her feelings towards whoever she likes

-likes one of your friends and doesn't want to hurt your feelings

- is afraid that you will tell the person she likes about her feelings

either way don't push her to tell you it's just really rude

well if she's openly sharing that with you there's a good chance it's probably you and she's scared of what you'll say. although there is a slight chance it could be someone she knows that you would recognize and is embarassed of you knowing.

She may be scared that you'll tell the guy and mess everything up. Or she may be concealing that fact that its you but doesn't want you to know because she may be unaware of how you feel. Overall she may be insecure and down. She may feel like she can't trust anyone due to her recent break up.
