Giving a guy my number while he's at work?

I walked into a smoothie shop with my friend today and saw this extremely attractive guy working behind the counter. The whole time my friend (gay guy) and I were in there, we were silently freaking out to each other about how cute he is and he was insistent that I be bold, not chicken out and give the guy my number. The guy is making smoothies, unsuspecting of our plans and we go up to the girl cashier (who seemed cool) to check out. I asked her secretly if the guy was dating anyone and she said not that she knew of. so I decide to take my friend's advice, be bold and put my number on a receipt for him. I went up to where he was behind the counter, said excuse me, and when he looked up I gave him the paper. I walked away and gave the cashier her pen back and walked out.

My friend said the guy only had one had available, so he opened the paper with his tongue and when he saw what was on it, he put it in his pocket. Do you think he'll use it or did he just put it away to be polite? I think my main question is if you weren't at all interested, would you put it in your pocket for show or just wait and throw it away?

Can you please help me understand this paper with his tongue part? I do not understand this. I really think that you should talk to the guy a little more before giving your number to him. I am not saying he is a creep or anything but I found that if I talked to a guy it would make me feel more comfortable about giving me his number. Who knows he may call you, and if he turns out to be a creep you can always block him

sorry that was just a detail I guess to illustrate the situation lol he was making smoothies so he only had one hand to use. I was more saying he put in effort to open it on the spot even though I was walking away (my friend saw him do that) and then put it in his pocket after he saw what it was

Well he did shove it in his pocket so it shows that he was some what interested.Even though it's really hard to tell what he was thinking. I'm hoping he calls or texts you. Sometimes guys wait a few days before they text or call.Update if anything happens.
