Advice before getting a tattoo

• Wait at least a year before getting the tattoo you want to make sure you still want it.

• DO NOT get a tattoo of a girl/boyfriend's name. That should be common sense but a lot of people do it.

• Don't copy someone elses tattoo or artwork. You can grab inspiration but you should make it your own.

• Study your tattoo artist's work in advanced.

• Do not go cheap. The more expensive it is, the better quality (and probably the safer) it is. This is on your body forever so it's worth it to spend more.

• Try to stick to a tattoo with special meaning. A lot of people get tattoos just because it looks cool, which is fine, but if you get a special one there's a smaller chance of you regretting it.

• Wait until you're at least 18 to get a tattoo. I know a lot of people who have gotten tattoos as a teenager. You mature so much every year from 13-18.

The tattoos I wanted when I was 16 make me cringe thinking about them and I'm very glad I didn't get them.

• For your first tattoo, go small and go in a place that isn't too painful

And no that's not me. I kinda broke my own "don't copy someone's tattoo" rule. Whatever. It's only an outline of a moon, it's not that creative so I can copy it if I want lmao

I just meant don't copy someone's original intricate tattoo like the ones above.

The next tattoo I'm getting is similar to the one below. It's gonna be higher up on my arm and its going to be red roses with black leaves. I'm getting it because my grandma passed away about a year ago and her name was Rose.

My child's signature

One day when I have a little kid, I want them to sign their name on a piece of paper and I will take it to a tattoo artists and get it done. I even saw a video of a tattoo artist letting his 7 year old daughter tattoo her name on him herself. I would do that but I don't think I would own a tattoo gun for any reason lol

Something on my fingers

I've been wanting finger tattoos for the longest time but I can't figure out what to put on them.

I think its also important to mention that people should generally avoid tattooing their face, neck and hands. Mostly because of jobs, many people won't hire you because of it. Also face tattoos almost never look good

Enjoyed reading this and agreed with most, except two things:
Getting a tattoo before 18. I get that not all teenagers are sensible about descisions like this, but I know many friends who've gotten tattoos at 16 and are still loving them at 22. Of course this doesn't apply to everyone, but you can be very creative and have good tattoo ideas at 16.
Not copying someone else. Copying someone else's tattoo is actually good. For starters you'll be able to see what you like and dislike about it. Then you can alter (or let alter) it. And then get it. Also, I know many celebrities whom have great tattoos that I'd love to have as well. I bet there's loads of people around with the same tattoos as well.

The only thing that's kind of "holding me back" from getting tattoos is that they might not suit me, and I hate them. I hate to use the word because I dislike it, but they might look 'infeminine'.

Late reply but I'm just saying if someone drew their own design and worked really hard on it, and then someone just straight up copied the whole thing and got the same tattoo, I find it kinda rude.
Like I know if I had a unique tattoo that I drew myself and then someone else got the exact same thing after me, I would be pissed.

I mean its up to you. But its something thats going to be on your body forever and ever. I just think it makes sense to wait a while and make sure even after a long time, you still want it. Maybe a year is too long
