To be honest, im not into fashion because i dont like how it works. How does it work? The inner cycle sees sales dropping so they decide to launch new stuff which heavily promote through high end models and famous people so everyone suddenly needs these or he/she is out of style. Nope thanks. I won't be a part of this never ending consumer madness. Of course i have the minimum clothing for every occassion but thats it.
When I was a kid my parents kept getting invited to posh dinners, my father wore the same dinner jacket and only bought a new one when he was too fat for the old one, my mother had to buy a new dress every time she got an invite, and she had to get her hair done. It's bloody expensive keeping a wife. Why can't a woman be seen in the same dress twice? If you're only going to wear it once, why not rent?
Every one has their own thing. Like, bro i wear "old man clothes" cuz they got major style. U can't say men dont have style or dont care about it, have u seen the guys 65+? They are too fancy. Ur just targeting the middle aged man. And bruh, although women know how to match sometimes their outfits look dumb. Like actual "fashion" like that red carpet shit look dumb as hell.
"Odds are he will probably be rewarded for this story with laughing, name calling, or the questioning of his sexuality, so those men, straight or otherwise, who do enjoy fashion or dressing well, tend to keep it more to themselves."
we both know thats a lie. From that day on from the majority of people you will be seen as a pansy. maybe you dont care about that, but dont try and say that we can say something like that and get away with it
I think part of it is not caring about fashion and part of it is not wearing clothes that are clean/fit properly/are of decent quality.
I know some guys who are very straight who dress extremely well, but they are guys who are comfortable with their sexuality in general. They are the type who are in marriages/long term relationships with feminine women. They aren't the guys who feel "tainted" by being buddies with gay men.
From my perspective fashion is a waste of time and money. I do appreciate good style though. I try not to dress completely shit because I dont want to shine a bad light on the people who associate with me.
Otherwise I wear what is comfortable and practical.
Also: I certainly have less respect for other men who care about fashion. I dont like that I feel that way but I do.
Fashion is a waste of time, and I can achieve my goals without worrying about it. Considering that it's also somewhat shallow and expensive, why would I ever care about it?
Oh god the nightmare of shopping with my one friends who DOES love fashion. He's fine in every other aspect, I just can't stand how much time he can and will spend shopping.
why? have you fucked seen men's clothes? its just one color at best. every suit looks the fucking same. what the fuck happened we use to rock fashion back in the 1800s. i blame women
No, you got it all wrong.. we legitimately don't care what clothes we buy or wear, for the most part. Only exception is when buying a suit, etc. for a wedding.
My point is not that you have to or should care, it's that, there isn't the incentive for you to openly care about fashion or style even if you wanted to, that there is for women.
So what kind of incentive would I need to start caring? Because every time i have to buy clothes, i see it as a loss because i'm SPENDING money on something that i don't really care about.
Well for you, the incentive might be giving you truly expendable resources, i. e., if you were rich and money were no object, you'd be free to waste money on not just clothes, but whatever you fancied. For myself, I can't be bothered to care about a designer gown because I know there is no point. I can't afford it. Now if I could easily afford it, I MIGHT care more about wearing designer clothing. It doesn't mean I have to or would definitely, it would just mean there would be no barriers other than my own opinion of such things and where I'd like to spend money.
Even if i had a lot of money, i still wouldn't care much about clothes and fashion in general. It's a waste of my time and money. I usually just buy the cheapest i can get and be done with it.
I hope that you understand once again, that I'm not telling you that all men have to love fashion. There are plenty of women that hate it as well or think it's not worth the expense. I'm simply saying for the ones that might want to dabble or who do love fashion, society at large does not usually incentivize their love or curiosity about fashion the way it does for women which in turn can make it harder for them to like it or express their love of it openly, especially with their male peers.
I dress Visual Kei / Harajuku fashion anyway so I don't count. But I spend probably ( minimum) $50 a week on something to add to my wardrobe be it a blazer , scarf or whatever.
They do. There's just a lot more options for females for some reason. We have our own form of fashion and I don't know why some people are labeling it as "gay" or "feminine". F*****g weird.
I strongly disagree. We don't secretly like fashion. We genuinely think it's a waste of time. I remember when I was a little boy and I got clothes for Christmas, and I was so disappointed.

Never seen this happen.

@gaguser2453 nothing happens.

Tbh I'd find a man who cares about the fashion more than me, undateable for me.
It's a plus if they're nicely clothed and don't ignore it completely but he shouldn't be into the fashion too much.
My husband loves shipping and likes to look good. He uses MY girly hair treatments but he's still too insecure to use a pink toothbrush.
Oh god the nightmare of shopping with my one friends who DOES love fashion. He's fine in every other aspect, I just can't stand how much time he can and will spend shopping.

In my country a lot of men care about fashion, too much. When i see how much they spend on clothes and how much they really wore them, it's stupid.
I dress Visual Kei / Harajuku fashion anyway so I don't count.

i think we are a bit slobs
i know i go for jeans and a t shirt or a long sleeve henley.
or a sweatshirt.
i have tons of good long sleeve shirts and suits but wear very rarely..
Dont give a f*ck. T-shirts and boardshirts for me 365 days a year.
(I live in Australia so iam ready for a swim at the beach any time of the year)

I wear what I like and is comfortable to me.
I don't care what some fashion czar says.
Because majority of males aren't gay.
