Reasons Girls Paint Fake Freckles On

Yes, people actually do this!

It all started as a trend - with really obviously fake ones, but soon it turned into something completely nuts!

All of these girls (and some guys) usually only put those fake freckles on their face, nowhere else...which in itself is a dead giveaway they're fake...

More often freckles are faked with makeup, less so with cosmetic tattooing of the face.

I can honestly say, as a person who naturally has freckles, I don't find it offensive, but I do find it distasteful...

Reason No.1

They want the 'natural', effortless, cute, fresh look that many naturally freckly girls have.

Reason No.2

They want to cover up the fact they're wearing so much foundation. by painting on freckles, they create the 'illusion' that they have no or very little foundation on, hence their freckles can be seen from 'underneath' the makeup.

Reason No.3

They think it makes them look more 'alternative', 'bohemian' or 'special' hence they resort to faking freckles.

P.S.

Natural freckles are rarely only located on the center of your face across your nose: if you see anyone with specific location like this with no freckles on shoulders or a bit less of them on the rest of the face and arms...you know they're most probably fake.

I have had freckles my entire life and was usually teased about it when I was little. That this is now a trend to have fake ones just seems crazy and laughable to me.

They do tend to be concentrated on the nose and upper part of your cheeks, because those get the most sun. Mine are much more filled in thanks to a week's vacation in the outdoors :)

Wow this is extreme. I'm all for creative make up though in anyway. I personally think freckles are cute, although I don't have any. I love make up, but I wouldn't want to completely alternate what I actually look like naturally. If you have freckles, embrace them. If you don't, don't worry about painting some on.

It depends on the type of freckle some people have really small freckles that only seem to congregate on the nose and cheeks and very little elsewhere e. g. people that tan before freckling (my younger siblings have this type freckle).
Some people (usually those with a redheaded ancestor or someone that is ginger) will have the massive freckles that can cover the whole face easily as well as arms and legs (I have this type but only on my face for some reason- the dusting type freckles are on my arms).
You can easily identify a painter because often the freckles aren't the right colour for the skin colour and the freckles aren't the right type for the hair/skin colour also the freckles if done with the right colour are too sparse/many for the type of freckle.
I don't do fake freckles because one: I don't wear makeup but if I did then I'd probably end up using it like face paint, two: I've got my own freckles and three: I can't be bothered to do stuff like that for every single day of the rest of my life (or at least until the trend dies).

I don't wear makeup so this isn't a personal thing for me but my friend has really bad acne that she's really embarrassed about. She wears makeup to feel more confident about her face and her skin and when she puts makeup on it covers up her natural freckles so she adds them back in to look more natural.
I don't see any problem in people wearing it versus anything else that enhances a feature. Lipstick changes the color of your lips, mascara artificially lengthens your eyelashes, blush makes it look like you have rosy cheeks, bronzer like you have higher cheek bones. All aspects of makeup are designed to change an aspect of your appearance. Whether freckles are something you think looks cute or you're putting back the ones you covered with foundation you should be allowed to wear whatever makes you feel good in your skin.

nonsense. I have light freckles only on the bridge of my nose, and sometimes on my forearms when I bathe in the sun. But if I put foundation on, they disappear. And when I was a child they were darker and sometimes I miss that look so I paint some on my face. Why do you care? We should have more important problems to concern ourselves with than this. It's not harming anyone.

You're right, most people who naturally have freckles do NOT just get them across their nose / center of the face. I have some there, but they are MUCH more plentiful / prominent across my back, shoulder, and arms. I get self-conscious about them sometimes, since my skin then doesn't have that "flawless" appearance that smooth even skin tones have, but most of the guys I've been with seem to find them cute.

1. If you suspect someone is faking freckles, tell them they have something on their nose, and then wipe those freckles off!!! Haha!

I always have freckles on my nose. But in the summer they spread to my cheeks, forehead and a few on my upper lip haha.

So I don't know... but they're obviously not fake when you look at them haha.

But the point is, I have none on my arms or anywhere else :/

Regarding the last part, just keep in mind this isn't always true. I really only have freckles on my nose bridge and tops of cheeks. That's because I don't have a lot and they're light, though.

I think it's funny. I am black but have freckles. I used chemical peels that removed some of them, but now it's a trend. I want them back lol
