Not everyone wants to wear just one print at a time. Some like a bolder style with a lot of color and texture in their clothes or you want to try something different by mixing your patterns and prints in your wardrobe for a fresh look, but still don't want to look totally crazy doing it.
1. Stick to the same color
The easiest way to mix prints is to mix them, but stay within the same color scheme. Like a red stripe top with a red polka dot bottom. This creates cohesion between the two that won't be as jarring as if you mix the colors and the prints.
2. Go for similar prints with different sizes
The prints don't have to be totally dissimilar or different at all. For example, go for a large bold stripe up top, and a small one on bottom. You still get a really cool effect, but by keeping similar patterns, the end result is actually very cohesive.
3. Bold print meet subdued print
When wearing dissimilar prints choose one really big bold print, and then a very subdued smaller print or pattern to contrast. One or the other will be the main focal point of your outfit, and the other will compliment it.
4. Pull the outfit together using one main color
Even if your prints look totally different, by pulling in one main color from top to bottom, you can bind the outfit together.
5. Invert your colors
If your top is mainly blue with a bold white pattern, invert the colors on bottom so the bottom is mainly white with a bolder blue pattern.
6. Neutralize it
Go for bold color patterns in one or a few pieces, and then match with a more subdued neutral tone, or a solid color jacket over it to sort of calm the outfit down.
