Beards And Mustaches Are Like Makeup For Guys. Agree Or Disagree?

Whether or not a beard makes up for guys is entirely subjective and depends on personal preferences. Some people find beards attractive and feel that they add a certain charm or ruggedness to a person's appearance. A well-groomed beard can enhance facial features and give a sense of maturity or masculinity. It can also be a way for individuals to express their personal style and individuality.
However, you should also note the fact that not everyone may share the same opinion. Some people like a clean-shaven appearance and find beards unappealing. The decision to grow or maintain a beard should ultimately be dependent on what makes you feel secure and comfortable in your own skin.
A beard can have certain benefits for the skin, but its effects can vary from person to person. For some individuals, a well-maintained beard can help protect the skin by acting as a natural barrier against environmental elements, such as harsh weather conditions or UV rays from the sun. This can help prevent excessive drying or sun damage to the underlying skin.
Additionally, a beard can give some measure of protection against airborne irritants and allergens, thus lowering the likelihood of skin irritation or inflammation. It may also aid in the retention of moisture on the skin by avoiding excessive evaporation, keeping it moisturized, and maybe reducing dryness or flakiness.
So, whether a beard beautifies the skin or not depends on various factors, including individual skin type, beard grooming habits, and personal preferences. If you decide to grow a beard, make sure to pay attention to your skin's needs and maintain a healthy skincare routine to keep both your beard and skin in good condition.
Many people do find beards attractive and believe that they can enhance a person's appearance. A well-groomed beard can add a touch of masculinity, maturity, and charm. It can also help define facial features, create a more rugged or distinguished look, and even add a sense of confidence to one's overall presence.
Attractiveness extends beyond physical appearance. While a beard is one component of an individual's look, other factors such as personal style, grooming practices, hygiene, and personality all have a role in overall attractiveness.
Men wanting more beards can stem from a variety of reasons, as personal preferences and cultural influences play a significant role.
For many men, growing a beard is a way to express their personal style and individuality. Beards can be seen as a fashion statement and an opportunity to experiment with different looks, whether it's a full, well-groomed beard or a trendy stubble. It allows them to enhance their appearance and present themselves in a way that aligns with their desired image.
Also, beards have long been associated with masculinity and can serve as a symbol of maturity and confidence. Some men feel that having a beard makes them feel more assertive and self-assured, which can positively impact their self-esteem and how they perceive themselves.
Cultural and sociological factors can also play a role in the desire for more beards. Beards are traditionally prized in some cultures or societies as a sign of wisdom, virility, or social position. Furthermore, popular culture and the media frequently depict beards as attractive or stylish, which can impact personal preferences and goals.
The question of whether beards are sexier than clean-shaven faces is highly subjective and can vary depending on personal preferences. Beauty standards and attractiveness are influenced by individual tastes and cultural factors, so what one person finds sexy, another may not.
Many people find both beards and clean-shaven faces attractive in their own ways. Some individuals are drawn to the rugged and masculine appeal of a well-groomed beard, believing it adds a certain charm and maturity to a person's appearance. Others find the smoothness and clean look of a clean-shaven face appealing, appreciating its freshness and youthfulness.
Facial features, personal style, grooming habits, confidence, and general personality all contribute to a person's sex appeal. It's critical to appreciate your individual characteristics and do what makes you feel secure and at ease in your own skin.
Some girls may find beards attractive and appreciate the ruggedness or masculinity they can add to a guy's appearance. They may enjoy the texture or the way it frames the face.
On the other hand, there are girls who prefer the clean-shaven look. They might appreciate the smoothness and youthful appearance that a clean-shaven face can offer. They may find it more appealing or associate it with a certain level of neatness or professionalism.
You know, attraction is highly subjective, and what one person finds appealing, another might not. When it comes to physical characteristics, including facial hair, each girl has her own distinct preferences and interests.

I would somewhat agree. I think it’s similar in a way but not a perfect comparison. More specifically, a thick beard can cover up or cast an illusion on the bottom part of the face, aka chin/mouth, but naturally, it won’t do much for the upper face. A thin beard or mustache or stubble doesn’t do much at all.
Makeup, on the other hand, has limited ability in facial shape— apart from maybe contour stuff, but it has greater potential in hiding blemishes. It also can be applied to the whole face rather than just half or a third. Furthermore, a guy like me would be (mostly) clueless as to how much makeup a girl has on unless it’s painfully caked on or horribly done. A beard is pretty noticeable in that regard. It’s pretty easy to see lol
Nevertheless, the two are comparable in a way, so I do understand your point.
Regarding the guy in the pic, I imagine he’d look much better in the left picture if he had the same lighting, hair style, and pose as the one in the right. The left one sort of looks like a “Tom from MySpace” kind of photo haha
Beards and mustaches both do things for a guys entire face a guys going to look different and okay
I guess it's the closest thing to e. g. covering up a weaker jawline or some other facial imperfections over there, which would make it basically have the same effect as makeup.
However, there naturally are limitations to beards that make-up doesn't have, such as coverage of only a smaller part of the face plus whether people can even grow a full beard.
But yeah, I'd agree.
Can’t all men grow a full beard?
Definitely not. Many men can only grow a rather limited beard, such as very little growth on their cheeks. It depends on the level of testosterone they have. Since men of course not all have the same levels of testosterone, the effects of testosterone are not evenly distributed.
So what you’re telling me is that this 16 year old boy in my class that has a long goatee has more testosterone than some grown men?
That could be the case since the increasing presence of testosterone in men is not linear nor the same for everyone.
That being said, many guys can have sufficient facial hair to have something comparable to e. g. a goatee, though the hair may be distributed differently.
However, there are also people with just quite low levels of testosterone
Somewhat. I see your point as it can drastically change someone's appearance, but beards are natural whereas makeup isn't, and not all men can grow a beard whereas I've never met a woman who couldn't makeup, so it does differ a bit.
Doesn’t matter if it’s natural still alters a guy’s appearance
A goatee yes mustache yes at the end of the day it alters appearance.
Thanks for having our back Clo
Yeppp just look at aqua man without a beard he looks way different
Wow smh

Most guys that have a moustache or beard/full set have them for their own reasons that has nothing to do with attracting woman, so NO they have no relationship with women’s make up.
A lot of men have beards because it painful to shave, or they got out of the habit due to female members of their family kept stealing their razors, personally that was me,
I have a full set unless I’m working on a job that requires my using full breathing apparatus then I go to a Barbers if there is one locally and have a full shave done with a straight razor every couple of days til the jobs done. I have to make sure I have enough time after the job finishes to let my beard grow back in to match my passport.
Part of it might be they look more macho with one and also maybe too lazy to shave every day. But I'll admit, some guys look better with a well trimmed beard than without. Notice I said "well trimmed" Looking like an Alaskan hermit is not attractive.
I never thought about this but they serve the same function to cover imperfections and make the face look more womanly /manly
Good post that's so true
No. Because they grow it naturally, for free. It doesn't come off at night.
But does it make a huge difference? Yes.
Next people will say that hair is like hats. Do you need to see a guy bald too?
Makeup for guys is makeup.
I have to disagree. I have had a full beard for over 45 years now. The last picture of me without a beard to my high school senior picture. Main reason for my beard? Laziness by knowing I don't have a need to shave. Another reason? It actually doesn't look too bad on me because of it's fullness.
No, because it's a part of us. That's like saying people's hair (regardless of gender) is "makeup". lol
It still alters your face catfish
like with your picture in the post it can completely change a person appearance and so can extreme make up so ill say yes-agree.
If they are full grown beard, goatees and moustaches yes; but I think that a small goatee or a close trimmed toothbrush moustache like mine don't really hide facial features.
Small goatees definitely alter appearance as well
Well, there's certainly a difference between this

and this
I wouldn't compare a beard to makeup. I’d compare a beard to when people wear hats and look good. But then they remove the hate and have a bigass forehead 😭
Naaaah, i don't think so. Just because... i would say it's more of a facial accessory... aand for a beard, you grow it, and style it. While make up is more like styling... but takes money. :c
When you find yourself inventing bullshit comparisons to try and make your point, it's a sign that you're on the wrong side of the argument.
In a sense, yes. I'd much rather see him clean shaven. Never liked the beard trend
Pretty sure those are two different men, just saying.
Nope you guys facial hair just does that a bunch of catfishes
As a beard owner I can confirm, thankfully when I shave I'm just as average as ever so neither I nor others suffer trauma from it ha
I can see what you're saying. Some guys look attractive with a beard and others don't. Personally, for me, I don't like Mr. Hairy guys.
Accurate😂
Depends on the guy, my brother has a sharp jawline and I always suggest him to shave his beard, cause it can show off his face shape.
I don't even know what I look like without a beard. I wanted one as a teen and as soon as I was able I grew one and have had it since. I suppose one could call it makeup for men but what would you call it on women, double makeup?
For some they are like makeup, for others they are like a teleport to the future (too far into the future)
no, cause they're not an artificial addon. a toupet would be like amakeup. women can style their hair as well. even in a sense that augments heir face. so that's not like makeup at all.
Only if he is feminine or thinks like a woman. Otherwise it is NOTHING at all like makeup.
Hair grows on our face that is not make up this is biologically growing on us. You're putting artificial stuff on your face to look better lol it's not the same at all.
No. Facial hair is natural. Make-up isn’t. They don’t “put on” facial hair.
90% of the time, they make a guy look so much uglier than they already are.
I agree, but they could do makeup and skincare still too lol and maximize that masculine attractiveness
No, because it's part of us. It's not something you take off and all. I mean, following this logic, hair is make up as well.
yo his beard looks terrible, i he looks better without
No. The difference is that a beard is a honest signal (unless its a fake beard) while makeup isn't.
Contour, yes. :)
Female lions prefer males with a larger mane
Not really. We don’t apply facial hair, it’s a part of our face. I fail to see any parallels really.
I agree for the ones who grow them to cover their baby face
ever the the face of Khamzat Chimaev? no beard looks awful on him
I love men who can wear a bread really well.
I am living proof of this!
If anything it's probably the closest thing
Yes many guys cover up the sagging and wrinkles on their necks and cheeks with beards. They also cover up fat chins/butt chins.
makeup is like makeup for guys lol
guys looks ugly with mustache
Some do
I don't like it to trim it
Pretty much
Yes it will definitely change the look
Hahaha
Well groomed that is
