The assumption is false. Light skinned people look better tanned. Dark skin people, the majority, don't look better tanned.

That is such a lie that many women believe.
Most people tan naturally over time, and that's fine. However some women, white women, take it far above that and it looks horrible and unnatural, like everything else on them.
