What's your opinion of the relatively new thigh showing trend with men's shorts?

Personally, I like it. It makes sense to me, as they're called "shorts", not longs. However, it shouldn't be treated as a requirement. There's nothing wrong with knee-length shorts as opposed to mid-thigh. Basically, these shorter shorts for men are the male equivalent of mini skirts and dresses for women. Nothing wrong with them, and they look awesome on some people, but they're not for everyone.

Well, I knew the day would come, lmao. When I was a kid in the 80s we wore the little short Larry Bird shorts, until 4th grade, so like ‘88 or ‘89, and these shorts called “Jams” came out. They had these wild patterns on them, and they came all the way down to your knee. That changed the shorts game for my generation, and if you wore shorts like the ones pictured here, you’d have gotten laughed off the block. I feel like the last time shorts were that long were when boys wore knickers like 40 years before I was born lmao. So it took a while to cycle back, and now maybe we’re getting to the end of another 30-40 year stretch.

But in seriousness, I prefer longer shorts, 11-inch inseam to be exact. That hits right at the top of my knee. I have one pair I like a lot because of the flamingo pattern, but they’re 9-inch inseams, and it’s just a little short for me. The ones you show are probably 7-inch inseams. That’s a little too much leg for me, personally, haha. So I wouldn’t wear them, but I don’t necessarily hate them for some other people. A dude with built legs could probably pull them off.

This was how shorts were most of my life. Even shorter than the ones in the picture. This trend for long "shorts" hasn't been around all that long. Shorts below the knee are not even shorts. I hope the style does go back to real shorts, so I can buy shorts that are actually short.

It's really a matter of what you are used to. To me, shorts to the knee or below look stupid. To people who are used to longer shorts, maybe shorts that are actually short look stupid. All styles change, but shorts well above the knee were in style way longer than the current shorts to the knee.

A few boys at my school wear these and because most of the mare very skinny, as soon as they sit down those shorts are shorter than most boxers.

I've never worn hotpants, shorts, miniskirts or the like to school, I'm 18 and we never had a uniform or a dresscode, it's just a personal preference, so I don't see why guys would want to show this much skin really.
If they're athletes heading to practice that's something else, but when wearing these short shorts your skin will stick to the chair at school, work or on public transport... That's just too nasty to me ;D

I imagine they are already very common in hot places. I think it makes sense if short are short and not pants that look too short. It’s for hot weather I can’t imagine cargo shorts offered much relief.

I don’t like pants or shorts that look uncertain as to what they want to be when they grew up. Pants should be long shorts should be short.

I will say - for both women and men- Shorts should be short. No problem.. however, the tightness is disconcerting. I don’t want to see the outline of genitals if it can be helped- and it can be helped. 🤨🤷‍♀️

My uncle was a distance runner, and he used to wear breezy short shorts to run. He always had nice legs so women never complained about the length of his relatively short casual shorts. I'm pretty used to seeing men wearing shorts at any length tbh

Well, it isn't new, it's just going back to how exercise shorts of the 70's and military have been styled. Also, who doesn't want an excuse to show off their package. Personally I only wear slacks or cargo pants, so it doesn't affect me. The concept is appealing though.

It isn't new. Luckily I grew up in the 90s and early 2000s where the shorts were longer and pants were baggy. I say luckily because I didn't have to go to school in Larry Bird short shorts like the kids of the 70s and 80s. Lmao😂😂

What’s in fashion goes round and round in circles. I remember all shorts being shorter than these and only “Bermuda shorts” being longer. Then really long basketball shorts came in, then literally below the knee, then back above the knee and for the last I don't know 5 years a shorter inseam.

Im confident both shorter and longer will have their day in the next 25 years

Strange how trends come and go and then come back again, the dumbest one was one leg rolled up and saggy pants look showing their underwear completely

Hate it. On men I like larger knee length (or longer) sports shorts (like adidas one). I don't like the mid thigh one make me think if the 80s and 90s (and of my old PE teacher)
