I think this is very true.

Since I'm a native-born Asian, I can only speak for Asians. And specifically East Asians, as South Asians (Indians) have their own beauty standards.

The whole "thicc" thing that's really popular in the US right now, is just seen as "fat" in East Asia. Girls with behinds the size of small planets just don't fit East Asian beauty standards.

While American beauty standards might focus on big behinds and big boobs, East Asian beauty standards tend to focus heavily on the face first, and the body second.

I'm not going into detail, but there are some VERY specific beauty standards when it comes to "face beauty", especially in women. There are even idioms and phrases in various East Asian languages to describe the size of a woman's face and the beauty of her facial bones - and that can also apply to East Asian men, although with men it's less restrictive.

But to be fair, a lot of Americans also find East Asian beauty standards not to their taste. (I know this because they've told me in person)

For example, I've heard some Americans say Liu Yifei, who's playing Mulan in the live-action Mulan movie, looks like a prepubescent boy.

I mean, I don't see it, of course, because to me, 32-year-old Liu Yifei looks absolutely gorgeous:

I don't get it, but I bet you could chalk that up to different beauty standards.

Also, I've heard many Americans say that East Asian girls are just too skinny or anorexic looking.

But to those of us who hail from East Asia, our beautiful ladies just seem attractive and beautiful, full stop.

The biggest discrepancy in beauty standards come with male beauty standards.

In general, and in my experience, many non-Asian Americans are always quick to disparage Asian men, saying that Asian men are ugly.

However, this actor, Hayami Mokomichi, stands at 6'1" and is considered very attractive by many women in East Asia.
But I suppose in the US, he would only get bullied and taunted.
East vs West. Very different beauty standards indeed.

Yes, but even your examples are far too generalized. Cultural values are much more specific than entire continents.

Yep I think I’m America and Europe western beauty is more popular but all different cultures have different views on beauty
