I think it is unhealthy and toxic. I am guilty of editing my own photos, but not to the extent where I’m changing the look of my face or something extreme. But it gives a very unrealistic beauty standard that tbh no one can live up to. And if you think about it, most of social media is fake. People do not post when they look terrible or show their acne or cellulite the list goes on... people show themselves at their “best.” The whole thing just isn’t real and I think if people reminded themselves that more often, there would be less insecurity issues and obsession with trying to look perfect. And perfect doesn’t exist.
I don't like it at all, especially when they make girls look unnaturally skinny. It promotes a very unhealthy outlook for young girls, and honestly, nobody should feel so insecure about themselves that they feel they need to Photoshop their photos. But honestly, a lot of social media and especially the whole Instagram influencer thing are very toxic as a whole, and nobody should be comparing themselves to others on there or trying to please random strangers online. The obsession over likes and followers is equally as unhealthy.

I don't like it though. It makes me feel self-conscious about myself. I don't really care about beauty standards, because I have no interest in it. I don't even wear makeup. I don't think that I am really pretty, I sometimes try to avoid looking at my face in reflective things. I sometimes do feel that I look ugly though. Also, those beauty standards always go towards white girls, so I don't feel represented in the beauty media. I don't have the same body and the looks of them or in the mainstream media, so it doesn't really affect me on the whole personal level.
Well I would say unreal rather than unrealistic cause it might be realistic for certain types of people - I think being moderately attractive and putting a normal amount of effort into looking good is all that you need to get a good guy - too much effort and too much unrealistically attractive things about you and you might get a guy who pretends to love you to get sex or dates you purely for your looks which is a recipe for disaster from a relationship standpoint - we weren’t designed to be beach bunnies which is why they alienate so many people - we were designed to be mothers and daughters and wives and grandmothers and employees and servants to society and academics and intellectuals - this is why nobody should be expected to look good 24/7
It’s unnecessary. I don’t mind if someone poses a certain way to appear taller, shorter, slimmer, etc but to edit the way your body looks is totally different. It gives people a false sense of beauty, making them think they need a body that is super unrealistic and most likely isn’t achievable (healthy anyways) to be considered pretty.
People do what they want really I don't care but it would be nice to know when a pictures have been edited (like having a message saying it).
Like this I can know which people take as model and which I shouldn't.
Females want to look perfect because if they don't others would point out their flaws and make fun of them, Grown ass adults do that in magazine and news papers its so fucked up. Anyways the pressure to look perfect and have zero flaws is the society we live in.

It depends on where they're posting the and their intentions. For example; it's a bad idea if you're posting edited pics on dating sites.
But posting edited pics on say the likes of this site is okay. Because some users actually use people's pics from here on dating sites to catfish and troll people. So it's best never to post an unedited or real pic of yourself on like's of here.

I don’t think it matters because of beauty standards per se. There are good looking people in the world without any editing or photoshop.
I will say that it’s got to be really embarrassing to not look like your photos in real life. Talk about embarrassing!
Honestly, it's not a new thing. Girls did it on My Space back in the day, and hey, I even wrote a paper in college on photo editing back in the late 19th century/early 20th century (see photo below... her was clearly edited).
It's sort of a shame that women feel insecure about their bodies. Embrace your shape, ladies, and be glad that you have a functioning, healthy body.
that's not even the slightest fucked up thing in this world. I remember years ago when people actively talked to each other on a bus drive to and from school. this barely happens anymore (usually it's the old folk talking to each other). I still see people who know each other talking but back then I were often caught to talk with randoms
It's a clash of technology, overcrowded market and the superficiality of women.
Where it used to be an interfamily rival or friend rival, a local community competition in school or church, now things have changed with the likes of social media- they are always someone prettier, sexier, more attractive in general right in front of your face.
Women are more superficial and their fertility intrinsically linked to their self-esteem and the value men place on them.
the only time I edit is when I have poor lighting and want to enhance the lighting of my photos or crop the picture to get rid of more background and keep the object I want to view more visible.
I think what's wven worsebis that these girls are actually completely beautiful without the photoshop. So the fact that they feel the meed fo hide their true selves is really sad...

But i blame on celebrities and media coz almost all of them have made it normal and now a common girl struggles to keep herself like those celebrities but still she would be obsessed with it plus guys also like to see their girlfriends in a shape shown by celebrities (fake ofcourse)
