This question came to mind while I was shopping online for clothes. So many product photos seem filtered and edited, with models' bodies seemingly warped to unrealistic proportions. It makes me wonder how much these images actually influence our ideas of what's attractive, both in terms of our own bodies and what we find appealing in others.
personally, not mine... no
my idea of beauty, attractive, sexy and all that... comes from girls I grew up with during my teen/college years
you know... those in school, my street, anywhere in the city out and about and of course, with my girlfriends over the years
for example, I know very well about the difference between a girl going out about her day in the casual clothes and less to no makeup... and the same girls going with more glam and dressed up for an occasion
and I've always known that screens and magazines are a very different thing and they always have been

Nope. I don't sit around looking at women's magazines. Most of the time, when women point to models they think are attractive, the women usually look to women with masculine faces that wear shit tons of make up and the women are like six foot tall... I could understand why women are attracted to tall people with masculine faces, but that's not what men are into. Thus the models used to sell shit to women generally look ugly to a lot of men.
I believe these women reflect the beauty standards of the culture they sell to. Not on an attainable basis, but on a fantasy reenactment one. A black guy told me the African standard of beauty was totally different from the North American standard of beauty, and I would say the Chinese fantasy standard of beauty is different from the European fantasy standard.
My perception? Not really. All those are temporary…what is important is inner beauty.

Not by much. My perception of beauty tends to be based on more concrete things. If I can't prove with good reason that something isn't doctored, then I like to think that my mind won't even entertain the thought of it being reality. But ofc, I could be wrong. I could be susceptible in ways I don't currently know.
It doesn't influence what I find attractive. I find attractive how women look in the real world. Those manipulated photos don't appeal to me.
Merry Christmas!
🌲It used to, at least partially, I think. But after I saw some professional fashion magazine spreads before and after digital image manipulation it dawned on me what is happening. And I have never been a fan of the cakeface look in real life.
Yes many people who do not realize the manipulation start seeing this as normal
My ideas of beauty in the opposite sex were fairly well formed by the time I was 16 years old.
The last photo has definitely been altered. No one looks like her.
Me personally? Nah
It effecting society as a whole yeah it does. They look freakish to me. I think the main aim is to influence women. And it works! Women spend 10 times what men spend on clothes, makeup, jewelry, accessories and cosmetic surgery.
Of course. I think it's a known issue and many people are not aware of it
How can it not? Social media, filters, like counters, have all had a huge and deleterious impact on our society.
No, because I do not focus on images. Reality is where I live.
Somewhat, it definitely works on your mind over time.
Not to me. Certainly not when they're obviously fake.
I know I don’t manipulate mine.
As far as women, an overwhelming majority them evolved the natural beauty they needed a long time ago.
I don't care if you're putting a filter on or whatever, but, AI, has gone way too far. GET AI OFF OF SOCIAL MEDIA
