You can't generalize. All women are not the same and all men are not the same.
Some guys take good care of themselves. I do. I work out regularly. Not just because I want to look good, but because you only get one body and I want to be healthy and strong for a long time, to enjoy life. I think as a guy (or as a woman), you should work out for YOURSELF. For your health. Not just to look good. But whatever gets you there, its just better to be healthy and strong physically. It makes everything better. And that includes eating right as well. Eat for your health and to fuel you, not just eating total junk all the time. You can eat healthy and have it be delicious too. It just takes a little focus and discipline.
Some people get this, care about, and have the discipline to do it. Others don't care or don't have the drive to be able to focus and take care of themselves. Some people have sort of given up and just accept that they are going to look like a blob. And you know what, if that is what they want to do, then let them. You live your life. Not judging anyone here. I don't think guys in general care less about being in shape, I think its maybe that in your world you see a lot of guys who don't care. There can be a lot of women who are the same.
Not around where I live lol. There's overweight country girls and tomboys everywhere here. I'm one of the odd ones around here that actually eats healthy and works out everyday. Whenever I go somewhere I dress nice and smell good. Majority of others around here look like crap and smell like shit. I have to drive into a bigger city to see people who do the same as me.
I don’t know what you’re talking about women don’t care about their fitness more than men most people just don’t want to be real fat women care more about being skinny it’s easier to go hungry or make yourself puke or do drugs than it is to exercise until you build muscle but nowadays skinny women aren’t considered the only attractive women and I don’t hardly know any fit women just average, skinny, or fat ones I know more guys with a fit fat to muscle ratio.
I’ve had girls constantly roast me on my body. Calling me “fat ugly bitch”, and “std whore”. While guys compliment me, calling me a “goddess” , “queen”, and “beautiful”.

Men don't care as much about their appearance as women do theirs, for the same reason women don't care as much about a career that will earn them a large income. Men and women are different and they value different things in each other.
Why do men typically spend less effort on looking good? Because they can.

I think men tend to care more about the functionality of their bodies: lift heavy, run faster, last longer in bed. So performance enhancers tend to be a bigger temptation for men. I think women tend to care more about the form of their bodies independent of healthy function, so I think they tend to be more tempted to develop things like eating disorders and anorexia.

It’s rare to see a well groomed straight man now a days. Gay men take more pride in their appearance and that’s probably why you see so many straight women saying why are all the hot guys gay.

Overall yes but not really. There's a rare breed of man who cares and when they do, it's wayyyyyy more. But what I've found is they will appreciate your efforts more and find you even more attractive.
