+1 yFrom what I learned about reading women's points of views on several websites and apps, mostly because the fashion industry is mainly controlled by men, and men design what they THINK women want, instead of what women ACTUALLY want. So what you end up is with something that's almost 100% fashion, and 0% function. May arguably look nice, but is often too tight and no pockets. Also, something else I also think makes sense, so that women buy purses due to the lack of pockets, hence more money for the companies.
I'm personally not the type of guy to wear huge cargo shorts with like 8-10 deep pockets, or super baggy clothes. 2-4 small to medium pockets to just fit my keys and/or a phone or wallet is fine. But most women's clothes don't even have that... either pockets so absurdly small you can only fit in like a quarter, or sometimes even fake pockets. So I can understand where women are coming from on this one.
Even though I've never been the type to over-stuff my pockets, it would be really lame to need an entire purse or backpack just simply because of my keys and/or wallet or phone. I've never really faced this issue since basically all men's pants and shorts have decent pockets, but I know it'd suck.12 Reply- +1 y
The problem with that is that if women wanted better pocketry in their clothing, there's nothing stopping anyone from making that, or anyone else from BUYING it. It's easy to blame it all on a few errant designers, but the basic realities of capitalism show that's not true.
- +1 y
Yes, a lot of our pants do have fake pockets…which is basically still the same as having no pockets.
And you’re right that when there are pockets, they’re usually too small to hold even the most basic of necessities. The only things I keep with me are my keys, phone, and wallet. And even though it’s only 3 things, I never have anywhere to put them…aside from carrying a whole purse to put them in.

Kids and ladies menu had no prices just food item names. Like women don't need to carry money in pocket at least.

You know women shirts had buttons on wrong side too?

Some women shirts have buttons on wrong side *
- +1 y
I know the reason for that.
- +1 y
Those shirts were designed for women to be dressed by someone else. May be a female servant. Then it stayed the way it is.

Hence on opposite side.

+1 yI remember hearing the answer to this one before:
It stems from socioeconomic trends during the transition from coin-based currencies to bank notes. Prior to the introduction of bank notes, everyone had coin purses, and carried little with them. As men were the ones who made money, during this time, men's clothes added pockets to accommodate billfolds as well as a few extra things.
As we got more modernized, the purse took on a new form as an over-the-shoulder handbag for women that was large enough to accommodate most things you'd leave the house with. Women who carry purses don't necessarily NEED pockets, therefore they weren't included. This saved time and materials for tailors.21 Reply
u +1 yI assume it’s because women typically carry handbags, so they don’t need pockets for their belongings. I personally don’t understand it, I don’t use handbags so I wish more womens pants had pockets 😅

+1 yBecause most women don't want them. Why? Hell if I know; I'm a former six-year-old boy, and well acquainted with the joy of pockets. I suspect it's mostly a matter of inertia, though; women don't look for pants with real pockets (if it can't hold more than three jelly beans, it's not a real pocket) because women's pants don't have them, and they don't have them because women don't demand them. They complain, certainly, but don't put their money where their mouths are. Or they do, and just buy men's pants.
If I'm mistaken, then there's a vast untapped market out there- but I doubt it.11 ReplyBecause girls' clothes are mostly body-shaping, they will not show their figure if they put things in their pockets. Moreover, girls need to bring more things when they go out, and the pockets are not enough, so they will bring bags.
I think there is also an important factor, if there are so many pockets in women's clothing and men's design, the sales of bags will be affected to a certain extent.21 Reply- +1 y
I think you touched all the important points here. The two biggest that women's clothing tends to be form-fitting and that women have historically tended to carry far more stuff than could ever fit in pockets (perhaps with the exception of cargo pants), so most women carry purses/handbags. Thus, clothing priorities are around being form-fitting, which isn't pocket friendly.

+1 yAssuming your statement is true, it would be because most women are dumb enough to buy pants without pockets.
I see this a lot where very "girly girl" type of women, buy clothing like they are some kind of status symbol or collectable.
Stop doing that, give up on fashion, stop buying the overpriced brand name stuff the rest of us don't care about, and only buy clothing if you need to because your old clothing is worn out or has holes, and you will see pockets on your pants again.00 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. They assume that women have purses and don't need pockets
24 Reply429 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Because then they couldn't sell you handbags. Handbags would be useless if women's pants have pockets. It's an artificially created need.

He is right lol I was just going to comment this.
If they had women would less likely buy handbags.
There are many handbags where just a phone and a wallet fits in. No woman would buy that if they would fit in a woman´s pant pocket.11 ReplyNot sure buy what i have heard is that is to earn more... its whole set up thing n the girls pockets are way smaller than guys ones even if they have... so that they cannot put anything else but card or cash or very thin n small item so they gotta buy bags n purses n wallets for stuff
10 ReplyObviously for purse companies to benefit from the additional money.
They do it on purpose. This is 21st century and those traditions are long gone.23 Reply- +1 y
Yes where they say "pockets were used by all working men to carry tools and women don't need them". Also the stereotype that we all carry makeup, accessories and other stuff, so we need purse. Many of us simply carry money and mobile phones or at the most a card... two pockets are enough for them to fit.
Hmm, I never noticed. I guess they're used to wearing dresses and having to carry a handbag or just stash a phone and credit down their top, so no need.
What's with those denim hot-pants then, that are so short you see the pockets hanging out the bottom?
02 Reply- +1 y
They do this so women will spend more money on handbags to hold our stuff. It’s a scam. Lol. They sell us clothes with no way of using pockets to put our stuff in so we have to buy handbags. Which is why men do have pockets. You don’t see men buying themselves handbags lol
No idea. Best I can say is "because women buy them anyway". And they buy them anyway probably because they look good and they already have a purse.
Like I think the consumer has a lot of power here, and women should try to start a trend of pants with pockets. I think it could take off.02 Reply- +1 y
It’s to force women to buy purses actually. So they end up making more money

+1 yI believe it's a fashion influence most designers are trying to get a close fit hugging your figure, to add pockets to that then potentially ruins the fit when you start putting things like a Mobile phone or any other big items in your pockets.
In a contrast men's clothing is generally more baggy so pockets don't always bulge out the same and bulges are in general less noticeable.00 Reply- 397 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic.

10 Reply2.6K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I do not know for sure but I imagine women would think it makes them look lumpy with a bunch of stuff in their pockets.
11 Reply375 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Two main reasons:
1) most women have a handbag of some sort they carry what men put in their pockets
2) most clothing historically was designed by men and they tried to flatter the female figure by designing clothing that hugged the hips and accentuate the female form, or "ass". They (we) don't want our favourite view obstructed by wallets and cellphones...00 Reply554 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I mean they have pocket books do they not? No. It’s to make money off women by having them by handbags. If it was for aesthetics, then why do men have pockets?
- +1 y
@Angie221994 They don't get in the way of the aesthetics for most men. Particularly as we often wear a blazer--particularly in business or formal settings.
- +1 y
Thats still not why they don’t put pockets in women’s jeans. They don’t put them so that way women will buy handbags. It’s to get us to spend more money
- +1 y
@Angie221994 It's frequently the case that the people that sell handbags (say Kate Spade) don't sell pants.
- +1 y
Lol. The majority of women’s brands sell everything from pants to hand backs. So. Incorrect. You also do realize that parent companies exist also right? So even tho they’re not under the same name, the money is still going to the same person.

u +1 yyou mean the ones that are tight AF? that you could not even get your hands into? lol
12 Reply- +1 y
because most women wear pants that are very tight or fit... stuffing objects in such pockets would look very lumpy, that if you can even get them in... lol
many women even wear strings so the panty lines do not show, so I guess is more of the same... looks over practicality or comfort

00 ReplyI don't know, maybe because most of you carry a purse or handbag and having stuff in your pockets would ruin the look of the pants 🤷🏻♂️
