in my opinion, yes.
People might deny it, or don't like it but beauty standards that are propagated by social media, Instagram and TikTok, are exactly like those mentioned in the video, light tan skin, light colored (green or blue or hazel) eyes, freckles, small button nose, hourglass figure, very slim.

You can see this on the forum too. In most polls, girls with lighter eyes get more votes than girls with dark eyes. Usually it's European people or people with part European ancestry, who have these features

It's seems so. It's a question of money. Most juicy fashion and cosmetics markets are US, EU and rich countries in east Asia. People in east Asia don't have any problems with white models in their advertisements, that's why plenty of slavic girls have models contracts in Japan and Korea.
In Africa or India it's different. Making advertisement for bleaching cream with Caucasian models might be a little bit off.

It depends on the society in question. In Europe and places which have historically had majority Anglo populations will obviously favour a more Eurocentric beauty standard. Whereas somewhere like China will have a different idea of beauty.

There seems to be a common rhetoric that white people must change all of their standards and customs to accommodate other ethnicities but not vice versa. Yes, white people favour a white standard of beauty. What of it?

if you live in China, Asia, South America, Japan, usa, etc then each has there own feel and look.

There is far to much of trying to pigeon hole people that simply do not fit in to whatever standard has been decided.

Many Japanese and Chinese find white people more attractive than their own. Also true in South America. I have been all over the world and often run into the phenomenon that people found me more beautiful than their local people of color. In Thailand, they try to be as white as possible, and even buy skin whitening creme. (Also true in China).

"Society" seems to be a catchall for blaming everyone else. I'm not attractive, but its not my fault for eating like crap, sitting on my ass, putting no effort into how I dress, etc. It's society's fault for viewing fitness, cleanliness, health, and dressing well as attractive. @zeitgeist057 Using white powder to whiten skin goes back to the Nara period in Japan as far as I remember reading (correct me if you know more and if I'm wrong). I don't remember reading anything about other cultures in Asia (except India and Iran, to a degree).

In northern India, many people have slightly whiter complexions than the people in the south. There are people with bright eyes everywhere in India, not just in the north, and most of them aren't mixed with Europeans at all (and yes, Indians like bright eyes because they're rare there). Indian gods aren't usually bigger, stronger versions of humans like European gods to see if they represent the races there. They have some weird features (blue skin, golden skin like Indra, etc.) But some of the spirits (like Apsara) are still described as very fair-skinned.

The Kurds in the middle east are mostly white. I've been to Iran and many "celebrities" there are European-looking and have blue/green eyes. You could say they're just imitating Hollywood (then why don't they introduce black people? they have black people in southern Iran and almost all famous Hollywood movies have a multiracial cast now) but if you travel to the north and west of Iran, you'll find out about 60% or more look like southern Europeans and about 10% (as far as I saw) look Slavic (mostly in rural areas). These states are also richer and most people who are into cinema (or arts in general) come from cities in northern and western Iran. So maybe they're not exactly imitating.

(If you're into movies, this is a movie by Bahram Beizai, a famous Iranian director, about a very brown-skinned Iranian kid from a southern state who escapes the Iran-Iraq war and ends up in a village in northern Iran. The main theme is the difference in their skin colors. There's a scene where the mother who's found and is taking care of him tries to wash him and turn him as white as her own kids. I also read some Iranian literature and in the few love stories that I read (Veys and Ramin for example that goes back 2000 years ago) the desired girl is usually described as having white skin and brown or black hair.

Preferring whiter complexions is not exactly new in many of these countries that we Europeans see as predominantly "dark-skinned". I think we need to kinda chill before we beat ourselves for "forcing" our beauty standards on them.

@Mia-Wallace some really great points and information, thank you! Maybe "white/light" isn't synonymous with "Eurocentric" the way I was thinking. I just know that when I travel I've often gotten compliments on my lighter complexion (I'm not a pale ghost, but I'm not exactly brown. More "olive" as they say).

In regards to what you say about black people, I don't think anyone is going to be doing blackface in this particular era, but there is emulation of dress, speaking style, and adoption of music and dance as well. These are very prevalent black culture features, more so than just the color of skin. I think anyone celebrating black culture or emulating it is definitely going to get into the music and movement.

I've had my eyes opened a little more thanks to you. I do still feel that there is glamorization of the west, Hollywood stars were mostly white up until the last decade or so, when there has been a forced point of representation (which I think is great, it's awesome to be exposed to diversity). I also felt a lot of admiration when I traveled, "oh wow you're from America", in some places it was almost Demi-god status. I don't see that reciprocated when Asians pile off a tour bus in downtown Atlanta.

I think we certainly are influencing (and have been for 2 centuries at least) the world. I was also treated differently in some places I visited. But I think it's not just the "whiteness" or "race" but the culture (we're the protagonists of modernity and industrialization and many countries copy/paste what we did and do in everything, from economics to architecture and fine arts) and especially association with higher wealth and status that drives a lot of that "respect". I think the association with wealth is key.

There’s different standards everywhere and every day. And sure blonde and blue eyes was a beauty standard for awhile, I think it’s died down. I made a lot of polls and looked at our present standards and most people prefer brunettes with light eyes now. It’s always changing tbh. Is it more Eurocentric than anything? Sure. But there’s lots of aspects that aren’t necessarily like that.
