Many Muslims wear no earrings as they ‘ain’t supposed to cross-dress.’ However, I see many blokes with earrings that add no femininity. I see more men wearing studs than women. Many straight men wear them, even.
It is feminine but only because it is worn mostly by females. It more of a feminine thing that’s only feminine in your head. It’s not innately feminine but socially feminine.

Earrings are gender neutral. Earrings could be considered feminine by some cultures though because that's what it comes down to the people who live there.

Fun side step into philosophy... if you are a man, and you wear a dress, then that is a man's dress.
I think the prohibition is intended to maintain the cultural social strata of the time by prohibiting men and women from changing their appearance to that of either a class with more rights (men) or one with fewer social responsibilities (women) temporarily... in the USA South its akin to making sure someone "man's up".
This prohibition is not isolated to Islam, but is upheld by a strict reading of Christian texts as well and would make sense in a Roman influenced culture deemed being transgender as acceptable, so gender bending wasn't uncommon... There was even a transgender emperor.
This being noted, as there is no overt prohibition against LIVING as the opposite sex (transgenderism), at least in Christianity, the prohibition must be assumed to be specific to cross dressing or taking on the sexual role of the opposite sex without taking on the cultural role as well. The reason for this can be debated but I would wager smart money that it has to do with avoiding fraud... if you are going to look like a woman and therefore avoid responsibilities such as conscription, you must live as a woman and accept your status as such, including the lack of rights.
So to come back full circle, as long as you are not wearing earrings to perpetuate a fraud, then I think you're good.
Isn't what is considered to be masculine or feminine dependent upon social context? While there are some aspect of manhood that are universal. . . it would be hard to argue that every single culture defines masculinity the same way.
I never wear earrings, but a lot of men wear them
More often than not it's indicating femininity in the man.
Get your head out your ass then.
Some men wear studs and a "sailor earing" for personal reasons.
Only women wear earrings. Muslim and Jewish males do not wear earrings or get tattoo's as it's considered a barbaric practice to do so.
It probably depends upon the individual. I have a friend who can wear orange, green, and red, and an ear ring and he looks fine.
