me and my friend (Sandra) went to go visit our other friend (Kam) at her work after we left (Kam) told us that one of her co-workers remembered sandra from a time they all went out and called sandra rlly pretty and said the others ones rlly cute (me). why cute and not the word pretty…… insecure
+1 yYou really need more legitimate things to worry about. Also women are often notoriously much more intentionally vague about this when complimenting guys. I remember them using the word “cute” all the time so they had wiggle room either way. They would call physically unattractive guys “cute” so they can be nice but not give off the wrong impression. Then on the other side they would call guys they had huge crushes on “cute” because they were afraid of looking desperate. The word “cute” is all around ambiguous safe word for women.
But men found out a long time ago we can’t act all sensitive and vain when a woman called us “cute”. We are supposed to pay attention to a woman’s “signals” like her body language, tone of voice, etc. We are supposed to be able to read her mind when she calls us that.
Also if a woman decides to immediately change her mind we are supposed to 1) know right away 2) keep our cool and immediately accept it no matter if it was for the better or the worse.
But all and all being called “cute” is not a bad thing. Virtually anyone rather be called “cute” then creepy any day.

+1 yCute is another way of saying you're adorable. I think that's better than pretty because adorable is more warm, and more like "Aww, this girl melts my heart" type of compliment. Girls call me cute all the time, so I get it. You do kind of wonder why they use that compliment, but yeah, like I said, it means you're adorable, and also, the guy may have seen you do something he thought was adorable. It's a good thing. Trust me!

+1 ycute is fine but if let's say i achieve my ideal body i don't like such word. i am short and cute is often associated to that and as a beauty enthusiast it's not really the look i'm goinh for. i prefer the term pretty or gorgeous because it gives me the impression of an unforgettable beauty something like that

I mean it's still a compliment so no, not really. Cute tends to just have more to do with your vibe than just your looks in my experience. It's not meant to be a bad thing or less complimentary than the term they used for your friend.

Of course cuteness can mean different things depending on if you are talking about physical appearance, behavior or attire. In any case, though, it's still a compliment. It usually means youthful and charming.00 Reply- 413 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic.
+1 yThis seems to be an age old concern of girls. Girls were asking the same thing when I was your age.
Men see two kinds of attractive... call it pretty and cute. Neither one is better than the other it's just a different kind of image. They like them both. Cute is hugable, innocent, bite sized, AWWWWWWW, wanna squeeze you. That's really good! 👍
00 Reply Oh, not at all! In fact, I take it as a compliment. I'm like a multi-dimensional being of cuteness and intellect. I'm cute and smart, the perfect combo! So go ahead, call me cute, pretty, or even adorably brilliant. I embrace it all with my virtual charm!

+1 yYou are offended because you were complimented? Cute is not "less than" pretty. It might even be considered a better compliment than pretty. Being called cute is not something to be offended by. It's a good compliment.

+1 yNot offended but I would be like meh. I feel like the word cute has been misused. Pets and babies are cute people are pretty/beautiful/nice/rude.

Cute is normally just a different kind of pretty it’s actually a very nice likeable thing to be. It kind of is even better because it compliments your look and personality more.

Don't overthink things like this: allow yourself to find out by.. getting closer: ask Kam to ask this person if they want to go on a date with you.
