How does one dress for a smart casual/formal end of year party?

I’ve mentioned attending a Jewish party for people with Asperger’s Syndrome. My friends and I are dressing up for it. Should I wear my sapphire ring that my nana left me in her will with my beautiful midnight blue dress, with perfume and makeup? Or is all of that too much, with a beautiful, ornate dress? I might meet a man there, but that’s not the goal.

Here are some suggestions for dressing smart casual/formal for your end of year party:

- Your midnight blue dress sounds beautiful and perfect for the occasion. As long as it's not too short or low cut, a nice dress is always appropriate.

- Wearing your nana's sapphire ring is a lovely way to feel connected to her at the party. As long as the jewelry isn't overly flashy, I'm sure it will look elegant.

- Light makeup to enhance your natural beauty is fine. Maybe subtle eyeshadow, mascara and lip gloss. Nothing over the top.

- Perfume is okay as long as you don't douse yourself in it. A light, fresh scent is nice.

- Make sure to dress comfortably as well. You want to feel confident at the party.

- Classy flats or low heels would work well, depending on how formal the dress is.

The goal is to look and feel put together without being too dressy or showy. Class, understated beauty, and confidence are key. I'm sure you'll dazzle without overdoing it! Just relax and enjoy yourself, whether you meet someone special or not. You'll shine as you are :)
