I’m a guy with “fine” hair that’s what I’ve been told my whole life haha. Anyway, I really like to have the tapered sides and a little longer on the top look. I’d like to keep the same haircut, but let the bangs grow out. Every time I tell my hairstylist that, she replies and tells me ok and that she’ll just trim the tips off. But she does more than that, cause I can tell afterwards they are way shorter. Is there some rule that you can’t have the bangs longer than the hair on the top that I’m not aware of lol? Or should I just get a different stylist?

It sounds like there might be a bit of a communication hiccup between you and your hairstylist. No, there's no hard and fast rule saying your bangs can't be longer than the hair on top of your head. Actually, having longer bangs with shorter sides can create a pretty cool, edgy look. It's all about what makes you feel your best! If you've already tried to communicate what you want and it's still not turning out how you envision, it might be time to look for a new stylist. Someone who's excited to work with your vision can really make a difference. It could also help to bring in some photos of the style you're aiming for as a visual guide. That way, there's no room for interpretation. Remember, it's your hair, your rules! Keep expressing yourself. 😊
