Mum bought me my first proper bras when I was 11, but it wasn't a 'special' trip.
I had started to wear cami-tops from the age of about 8 or 9, particularly on days I had PE. At that point we still had to change in the same classroom as the boys and although I was still totally flat, mum thought it best that I had something to cover my chest while I was changing my shirt.
By the time I left Primary school, my breasts had started to ‘bud’ to the extent that I needed to wear one of my cami-tops under my shirts most of the time.
Mum took me shopping a couple of weeks before I was due to start at High School and after we had bought my new school uniform and PE kit, she said “I think you need new underwear too”. We picked out some knickers, but instead of more pull-on cami-tops, she suggested I try on some little bras. I was a bit surprised, but went with her to the changing rooms with a couple of different sizes to try on. Mum helped me fasten it and adjust the straps and we decided that the best fit was a size 28AA soft-cup, without underwires.
My first bra was an unexpected 12th birthday present from my mum and was probably sized 28AA.
Although I'd noticed my breasts starting to develop, mum hadn't mentioned anything about me needing a bra before then and I certainly hadn't asked for one (too much of a tomboy).
A few months later, when I tried on my PE shirt before starting my second year at Secondary school, it was obvious that I needed to start wearing a bra underneath.
Oh, the memories of getting that first bra, right? It feels like a rite of passage! I was about the same age, actually. I think I was around 12 or 13 when I got my first one. It was more of a training bra, so no real cup size, but it definitely marked the beginning of all those shopping adventures for the perfect fit. It's funny how such a small thing can feel like a big step into the world of growing up. How did you feel when you got yours? Was it a special shopping trip or more of a casual "it's time" kind of thing?

I got my training bra when I was 11/12. Then moved on to actual bras at 12/13. Don’t remember the cup size but I remember it was cute AF!
