Whether a woman should wear a jacket or sweater over a sundress to church depends on the cultural and religious norms of the congregation, personal preferences, and the occasion. In many traditional settings, modesty is valued, and wearing a cover-up might be seen as more appropriate. However, in more contemporary or relaxed environments, a sundress alone could be acceptable. Ultimately, dressing for church is about showing respect for the space and community, so it's helpful to consider the expectations of the specific church while also balancing personal comfort and style preferences.
Sundress are ugly. Wear a nice jacket or sweater.
I think Jesus would welcome even those who came to him in tatters.
Nope, it’s personal preference
Wearing a jacket or sweater over a sundress to church can be a respectful and appropriate choice, especially if modesty is a consideration for the venue. Churches often encourage modest dressing, and adding a layer can help ensure your outfit aligns with these norms. Plus, it can add a stylish touch while keeping you comfortable in cooler indoor temperatures. 😊

Yes, Jesus would welcome anyone, but a church with an established congregation is like an extended family. I care about my extended family, as many of them are closer to me than some of my actual relatives. I would not knowingly do something to offend them needlessly and when it could easily be avoided, so I make sure that my wife and I are dressed conservatively when we attend church.
If anyone suggests that a sundress doesn't show as much as a girl would reveal in a bikini on a beach. . . I've never seen anyone even consider wearing a bikini to church!
Women today pretend that whatever they wear has nothing to do with wanting attention or sexualizing themselves etc,
so there is no “appropriate” unless we are talking about a guy who a woman notices is glancing at her cleavage or something, then he is the one in the wrong
Ok... if that was worn like in the middle of summer in a heat wave... uhm a slight poor choice.. probably more so if she was particularly busty I'd say a cardigan would be good.. or equally.. handy... but no one is that obliviously unconscien ious... as not to pre consider her appearance compared to what typicly worn by others previous...
.. n figure she's gonna stand out...
But it could be just as so.. deliberate showcase
There are various options, aside from a jacket/sweater...
I advise pairing this dress with a button-up solid color full-sleeve boat or v-neck light pink/teal cardigan and wearing knee-high cowboy style light brown perforated unstudded boots, especially if this dress is not knee length and past knee length. Pair with a beige or white straw hat with a light brown bow tie and a small shoulder purse and the look is very much appropriate yet fun, casual, and informal.
Wearing this outfit with a cardigan requires forethought; choose natural material like cotton for summer and polyester or vinyl for cooler months, and choose a somewhat looser fit for comfort. Generally, manufacturers vary on how tight the sleeves are, so, it's best to try it on before buying it. I do not generally recommend wearing blends unless the temperature is variable in certain spaces of the church.
You might find looser fit sleeves like the bat-wing, balloon, or wides to be airy enough for your armpits. Sitting for long periods and sweating is generally harder to hold back with cardigans that are too close to those areas. Some people opt to use antiperspirants and that works for them.
A simple wash n dry using laundry machines or a machine wash and air dry or a hand wash n dry of machine or air is fine. In most cases, depending on the fabric, the cardigan allowed to air dry on a hanger for a whole day is sufficient but if you want to look more primp and proper ironing it is easy as flip inside out.
I don't go to church, but if I was with my significant other I would want her to dress conservatively. If I am also dating someone I would rather her not show off too much skin either. Call me old fashion but I don't like men staring at someone I am with lol.
You should be able to wear anything you want.
Who are you dressing up for? God sees you naked every day, he's even seen you didn't the dirty with your man (he heard you calling him over lol)
God doesn't care what you wear, God doesn't even care if you show up to church, he just cares if you believe... anything beyond that you're doing for humans.
Depends on the dress, the size of her boobs and length of her legs.
You can always wear a real light cotton top that the dress goes over or a shawl.
It’s their choice! No one but them should dictate what they should or shouldn’t wear anywhere!
If it is not revealing and is of appropriate dress code who should judge them!
It kind of depends on the dress. Spaghetti straps and no bra tends to be distracting. When Paul says to dress modestly in his letters, the actual inferred context given where he was writing to and how he said it would better be translated today as "don't dress like a $2 whore", so there's that...
Churches tend to be cool places even in summer so having at least a cardie can keep the chill off your shoulders.
Beware inflaming the lust of impressionable young men if you show any skin below the neck.
The women in my church wear tank tops. I'm sure the sun dress is fine
If it's warm and the church is packed, a sundress is a good choice. She can wear a jacket or shawl if she wants, but it's not necessary.
I think that it would certainly be more modest. But really as long as your not nearly naked going to church it should be cool.
Why it’s not what you wear to church it why you are there. The evil ones are the ones that thinks “God I wish”
No, I don't. Stop judging. "Let he who is without sin..."
If the woman wears a sundress in the middle of summer when the temperature is 25°C or more, all the windows and doors in the he church are closed and there is a crowd of people and no się to breath, then no I don't see the need.
Depending on how well the climate control works in the church. Also how stuffy the congregation might be!
I personally wouldn’t care!
Only if it’s chilly out, people don’t dress like they did in the 50s so it’s not that bad considering what some women wear these days
I prefer the jacket look. But whatever she's most comfortable wearing.
No. Why would that make anything more appropriate?
No. During the spring and summer lots of women, myself included, wear sundresses without jackets or sweaters to church.
As cold as it is in church I think yes that should be appropriate to wear
Women go to church? Women who aren't over 40?
Yes I do but I guess I'm off fashioned
Looks just fine to me.
no, no I don't
Really depends on how nice her boobs are.
Is it warm or cold out
Sorry are shoulders too sexy for you?
