Well, I don't back off suddenly unless she starts coming on too strong or acts really desperate... You know, the creepy stuff.
Small thing, I suppose, but I would hope the girl wouldn't "give in" to dating me. I would hope that it wasn't that kind of situation, where the girl thinks she's "settling" or "giving in."
I want a woman who would like the idea of dating me. Not giving in because I "pestered" her (which I don't do), or because it's a free meal.
Now at this point, it's probably my best hope for a date with anyone any time soon; but still I don't like the idea of "giving in." How about saying yes because I'm a cool guy or you want to get to know me better?
I may be paraphrasing a little, but there's a line from a Pepe LePew cartoon, where he asks "Why is it that when a man chases a woman, all she want to do is get away?" Later, as HE becomes the object of affection, he asks: "Why iz it that when a woman chases a man, all he want to do is run away?!" It happens on both sides.
And I'm not that guy who runs if a girl is interested; (ok, minus huge signs of desperation and or creepy behavior).
Ok..Here is what happens when a girl shows SIGNS of interest after doing this she thinks her job is done and she starts to wait for the guy to do something.Due to this constant thought process she gets all nervous and worked up with the thought that probably HE will do something about it.
Now what really happens is something like this..Girl gives sign but, girl being girl ,keeps it subtle and stupid guy doesn't get it.Guess what, he didn't make a move.This makes girl think,ohh wait! I gave him signal that I like him too and now he is acting all weird,backing off.
Then in some circumstances Girl is already involved with someone basically she has so called Boyfriend but poor guy doesn't know that Boyfriend is not really Boyfriend he is just a tag.So he backs off sometimes due to moral,ethics whatever you want to call it.
Sometimes it's just too late to show interest.Point of all this is that,If you show interest in someone then please don't give HINTS,instead go and talk like two normal people.
Whether he likes you or not he is not going to bite you.

Depends. I think it may be because he's a player, and see's you as "game". He tries charming you to make you fall for him, but once you show you're interested the hunt is over. The thrill of the chase and trying to win the girl is done.
I think its because the guy starts to think she's desperate that's why in some cases its good to play hard to get because when I think I am coming on too strong the guy usually backs off lol

alot of times we just don't realize... you girls do little things to try and show interest.. but we don't understand ur little hints.. some guys will ask for the number and leave or just think w.e next time and not realize you even wanted him... enough times my friends who are g's told me the girl was full out huittin on me and I had no idea.
because he's already got himself a girlfriend. simple. comeon guys, let's be a little more helpful (honest) to this lady.
I assume that you ask him out maybe?
