Are there guys who lose interest as soon as a girl shows she likes him? Why would he do that?

Bumped into a guy I knew, he showed interest in me, flirted, wanted me to call him. Then when I started initiating texts, inviting him to hangout, asking questions to get to know him, he pulled away and stopped trying to see me. Do some guys do this push-pull behavior? He's younger than me, is that the case?

Yes of course when there is a age gap, both girls and guys can't make a moove directly. See i can understand that they both showing signs of liking each other, but both would be always confused, that might be we are overthinking it, he or she was just doing their normal behaviour. Unitil it will get confessed.

Even anyone would be scare to take a first moove , in age gap diffrence is mostly kinda complicated.

I have no trouble talking to women until the stakes get raised. Because if someone is interested in you romantically, it feels like they see all the things you hate about yourself, and that can really hurt. So I would always cut them off.
