I accidentally flirted with this guy - how do I make things go back to how they were?

So a few weeks ago I was dressed up really nicely with a great new hairdo... And I knew I looked sexy. I was hanging out with this male friend of mine... And I started acting flirtatiously with him! He looked kind of surprised and taken aback, like he wasn't sure what to think. He's used to me being shy, quiet and unconfident, yet friendly and nice to chat to... And I had certainly never shown interest in him in that way before. (The truth is, I do kind of find him attractive but I was told by his mother that I might be able to board there one day if there wasn't any sexual stuff between us. So I've pushed down any feelings for him.) Anyway I don't think he's very stable so I don't want to be with him.

I haven't seen him much since then, and when I have he hasn't said hi like usual. How do I show him that I just want to be friends, that I didn't mean to flirt, that I just happened to be feeling super sexy that day? But then again maybe he didn't think I was flirting...

I've done the same thing when my friend broke up with her bf and she said he called her ugly. I responded no yourbeautiful and she locked eyes and told me to watch her stuff and stepped out for a little. Things have been awkward since. If he thought you were flirting and didn't feel the same way then he might be a little akward.

You are probably reading too much into it, most girls do. If he makes advances then talk to him but ignore the flirty remarks, believe me we understand when girl is suddenly not responding to our flirts. then things should get back to normal.
