Is making a first step by sending a LinkedIn invite to my crush creepy?

I´m a shy person and I like an apparently shy guy. We just gaze at each other for quite a long time, without making any progress. I feel he likes me at least a little bit, but he is not approaching me at all.

Woudl it be creepy and show too much interest if I would send him an LinkedIn invite (not a Facebook invite, which is too personal)? I want just to start the conversation and know him better, not to catch and bed or even marry him :) :)

LinkedIn is for work networking, building up professional relationships.

Facebook isn't too personal, it's how you use it. Some people plaster their lives across it, and that's up to them. Others post hardly anything. Some people use it as a networking social tool to keep in touch with friends, others use it as a way of promoting their business. You know him on a personal level, you want to get him more on a personal level, I'd go facebook.

Unless you plan on creating a business plan with him and nothing more, then yeah, LinkedIn would be perfect. But that's not your intention.

No. LinkedIn is for work and networking. If you have romantic intentions I would use a social media site less professional. If you add him, he'll most likely just take it as networking.

You know LinkedIn is for Business Relationships, right? I'd think it creepy, my purpose on LinkedIn is jobs. There are many other places for the romantic side.
