Prolonged eye contact?

Girls, if you give a guy pro longed eye contact when talking can it be a sign of interest?
So I was talking to a girl who I know and I purposely held eye contact with her whilst I was talking, I didn't even blink. She kept the eye contact she didn't blink either she held it for all the amount of time I held it until I broke it myself because my eyes were starting to hurt.
