What do limp hugs/huggers mean?

My ex came to me after a baby registry outing with the moms to give me a hug... it was so limp. walks away and says get a hold of me sometime... What does that mean? I mean of course it's awkward, we aren't dating anymore but we are pregnant together...but there has to be some psychological background, doesn't there?

I would guess that it is because you are not together any more. He may not want to come on to strong. The "limp hug" is, I think, not very threatening for either person. Maybe he still has feels and has not come to terms with them yet. Maybe he was see how you would react, or maybe he was bored and just being polite. All depends on the situation and the person, so it is hard to say exactly what his hug meant.

Yeah.. I see what you are saying... but it's just like a really loose handshake...What does that say about that person... in general. It's just super annoying.

Loose hand shakes, I call those the dead fish. It is like someone set a cold dead fish in you hand and asked you to shake it. Yeah, weird, annoying, but what can you do about it. I would not read to much into it if I were you. But then again I am not you. good luck.
