What does it mean when a guy calls you "hun"?

This guy likes me but hasn't talked to me since I don't even remember when. He talked to me yesterday and sounded excited when I said something back to him. Today he called me hun. He has also called me sweetie before does this mean anything? But now, he calls ''hun''. So, what does it mean when a guy calls you "hun"?

It's like a act of kindness mostly opposite sex uses it on each other
for example a girl calls a guy Hun or Guy calls a girl Hun it may mean
nothing than again he may like you is why he's calling you names like
"Hun", "Sweetie" it could be form of being affectionate towards you
really hard to say f the guy likes you he should communicate more
with you than what he does.

i didn't know it was really a thing for guys to say that… i'm used to "hun/hon" being used by older ladies. i wouldn't think much of it, especially with the age difference. he's probably just trying to be friendly...

Be careful with that word. Depending on the guy, and how he uses it, it could mean something completely different.

The 3 ways I have seen guys use the word "hun" are:

1. To be degrading and or condescending.

2. He's genuine and is using hun as short for honey

3. (How I've used it) As a joke between friends

I could explain them all, but if someone ever calls you hun you will know how they're using it. They all have such a distinct sound to them that they might as well be different words

If you noticed that he's getting flirty, hun is obviously meant flirty. It's just a cute small baby step toward calling you something more obvious like "sweetheart", "gorgeous" or any other nickname.
Trust your judgement - if he's being flirty, that's just what it is.

(But just for the sake of completion, I sometimes call friends (female) "hun" when I don't want to call them an idiot, e. g. when they don't get stuff in uni that is super obvious)

I've heard it used a lot from one who is older to someone younger. Mild term of affection, can be really annoying to me personally. I mean I get some people just use that because that is what they have always heard being used, where I come from, it is short for "honey" like the pet name used between lovers.

He’s either flirting (since you said he likes you) or just being friendly... ie: sometimes people will say “how are you doing love” which could be like saying pal. I guess... before I started dating this guy he was always super nice, made big offers and he always called me boo 😂 big sweetie.
