This guy likes me but hasn't talked to me since I don't even remember when. He talked to me yesterday and sounded excited when I said something back to him. Today he called me hun. He has also called me sweetie before does this mean anything? But now, he calls ''hun''. So, what does it mean when a guy calls you "hun"?
+1 yIt's like a act of kindness mostly opposite sex uses it on each other
for example a girl calls a guy Hun or Guy calls a girl Hun it may mean
nothing than again he may like you is why he's calling you names like
"Hun", "Sweetie" it could be form of being affectionate towards you
really hard to say f the guy likes you he should communicate more
with you than what he does.31 Reply
Asker+1 yOh nothat's not why I was saying he likes me there are other things that have happened

+1 yHe's flirting with you or you guys already have nicknames? I tend to call my girlfriend "Hello Sweetie", "Honey", "Hun", and "Baby/Babe".

Then that is weird or he's simply flirting with you.
i didn't know it was really a thing for guys to say that… i'm used to "hun/hon" being used by older ladies. i wouldn't think much of it, especially with the age difference. he's probably just trying to be friendly...

u +1 yHun, if he is a Southern man, it doesn't mean much! :) :) :)
52 ReplyNo he's not but he is from a small town
It probably doesn't mean anything more than he is being friendly.
+1 yBe careful with that word. Depending on the guy, and how he uses it, it could mean something completely different.
The 3 ways I have seen guys use the word "hun" are:
1. To be degrading and or condescending.
2. He's genuine and is using hun as short for honey
3. (How I've used it) As a joke between friends
I could explain them all, but if someone ever calls you hun you will know how they're using it. They all have such a distinct sound to them that they might as well be different words10 Reply
+1 yIf you noticed that he's getting flirty, hun is obviously meant flirty. It's just a cute small baby step toward calling you something more obvious like "sweetheart", "gorgeous" or any other nickname.
Trust your judgement - if he's being flirty, that's just what it is.
(But just for the sake of completion, I sometimes call friends (female) "hun" when I don't want to call them an idiot, e. g. when they don't get stuff in uni that is super obvious)10 Reply
+1 yI've heard it used a lot from one who is older to someone younger. Mild term of affection, can be really annoying to me personally. I mean I get some people just use that because that is what they have always heard being used, where I come from, it is short for "honey" like the pet name used between lovers.
10 ReplyOne of two, if he said that I'd presume its a short for Hon-ey so he is either not in your game (married, gay, feels superior adult) or that is a foreign figure of speech.
10 Replyit depends on the guy i call a lot of women sweetie but that's a girlfriend only term itself... it's very likely he likes you but there's also a small chance he just made hun your nickname

+1 yIt means different things to different people but I don't like when people call me and nicknames like that. To me it sounds degrading.

+1 yhe's gay. Jk jk. Mmmmm i see it as a nickname with no meaning behind it. I call random girls sweet heart.
00 ReplyIf I think a girl is cute i'll smile at her and talk to her sometimes depending how i'm feeling lol I sent you a message with a more precise answer :)
00 ReplyIt's a term of endearment usually reserved for those we're close to. I don't think there's any hidden meaning. You can always ask if he wants more

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yHe’s either flirting (since you said he likes you) or just being friendly... ie: sometimes people will say “how are you doing love” which could be like saying pal. I guess... before I started dating this guy he was always super nice, made big offers and he always called me boo 😂 big sweetie.
