Girls, How should I DM a girl on Instagram?

I'm new to a highschool and a bunch of girls followed me on Instagram. 1 of the stuck out though, she looks really cute and pretty, and I'd like to get to know her, but I don't have any classes with her and I don't think I've ever seen her in the halls. So I want to DM her. What kind of pic and message should I send her? I was thinking a selfie of me, and a message like: "I'd love for you to text me when you get a chance. Here's my # (#)

Noooo! Don't send a selfie. Just send a blank photo. Selfies make you look conceited; first time conversations are for getting to know the other person. Send a blank screen with a message like "hey! What's up" since directly asking for her to text you (especially since you guys have never spoken plus it's via dm) might go wrong. Just go with a simple message and see how she replies. Is she following you? Are you following her?

No! As cute as that sounds don't do tat, especially not to start off with because she will properly show all her friends and you will get questioned etc ...
Don't bother with a picture, just a blank screen will do and your message is cute enough as it is!
