From my personal experience shy guys will look at you a lot and its 50/50 that they'll never talk to you or will try once to awkwardly flirt with you but only after a long period of time and if you're available and approachable enough for him to get the courage to talk to you but its safer to make the first move. Shy guys flirt differently. They'll be nervous and either give you a really lame compliment or ask an interesting question or they'll say something really mean to you and all have the possibilities of either being awkward AF or being really amusing.

I notice shy guys will give up or get really sad if they you're having a lot of fun with other guys infront of him.

I asked how a girl's 2017 was going just because it can lead into anything, any topic. She said "good..." one of those one word answers where you can tell they aren't interested. (I maybe should have asked her why it wasn't great, but I left her in the dust... byeee if you don't want to talk.)

Super shy way?
1. Try to strike up a conversation with you. Come off incredibly awkward, say incredibly embarrassing things.
2. Avoid her company for a long while now that we're all embarrassed and feeling like an idiot.
3. Try #1 again after a good time has passed.
4. Repeat #2.
