Why do girls play hard to get??

I have seen this on here already, but I wanted to add to it. The main part is obvious why do girls play hard to get. Another thing I don't understand is why do girls think guys like the chase. Maybe some guys do, but most of them, from what I have notice don't. Also when a girl plays hard to get, they do a couple of things, do it too long and the guy loses interest. they do it to see if the guy is interested in them. But if a guy tries to get with a girl who is playing hard to get it is very possible for that guy to be considered clingy because he is trying to "catch" the girl, while the girl is enjoying the chase so to speak. I personally hate it when a girl plays hard to get, it tells me that she's into head games, its either you like me or you don't, and if you do like me, you either tell me straight up if you would want to eventually get into a relationship, and start "talking" or say that you like me but don't want a relationship. I and a lot of other guys I know agree that we want a girl that is more straight forward with things instead of sitting around playing mind games with us. However, from what I have seen, girls are the opposite, they like it when a guy plays hard to get because they feel that once they finally got the guy, it gives them the feeling that they accomplished something that's not easy to do. Maybe that's why girls play hard to get, because since they like it, they think guys do as well. Like I said there are some guys who do like it but from what I have seen in person and online most guys don't like it when a girl plays hard to get. So I would like to know after reading this, why girls who do play hard to get, play hard to get.

It's really a matter of nature. Similar to other creatures, the male has to "dance" or "chase" after the female. For example, the peacock male has an assortment of colorful feathers to attract mates. We're just lucky we don't have to sacrifice a limb for love, although guys often sacrifice their wallet and heart. Most women who play hard to get do it so they don't appear to be easy. They're afraid that guys who conquer them quickly will lose interest. Other women play hard to get so they can use guys without actually having to commit. Nevertheless, I agree with your talking points; women should be more honest to guys that they want.

Girls play hard to get for several reasons...

- feel the guy out: they want to see what the guy is all about. He just want sex or does he want more (a relationship)?

- not to appear like a slut: if they give in right away then they might lose respect in the guy's mind. By holding out it makes the guy worker harder, thus giving her respect.

- they are psycho: they have serious mental issues and just get off on using people and toying with another person's emotions. I would blame this reason on their upbringing.

The thirds reason cracked me up, the 2nd reason can also be under the 3rd reason. sorta. they have mental issues with THINKING they will be a slut if they dont. Its not hard at all to hang out with a guy and not play hard to get and talk to the guy in a relationship kind of way without having sex. That just doesn't make sense at all, I mean think about it. Since when is talking to a guy and letting him know you (girl) like him make you an automatic slut? not really saying this to you by the way

Exactly, so how does playing hard to get make a girl a slut. Its not like she is playing hard to get into my pants. that is something completely different, as you know playing hard to get is liking a guy, then showing lost of interest then liking him, then lost of interest and continue that pattern in one way or another. Nothing in that has to do with a one night stand or cheating. so therefore I don't understand why girls think it makes them appear as a slut. ya know?

That is why there is something called being firm. A girl can show interest in a guy and talk to him and even date him, and still make it very clear he's not getting any for a while. Which I am sure you know but with you adding something new to why a girl might and me writing back on how that's in my mind idiotic. it will hopefully get the girls that read this to understand how to be with a guy without playing them mind games such as playing hard to get

I also think it comes down to how mature the girl is... usually a woman can be firm and talkative at the same time... as a girl who might be inexperienced thinks she is doing the right thing by playing hard to get.

You know I was just about to say that is why I like older women, because they are a lot more mature. A few years ago I wondered if it had to do with the time period they grew up in which might be a little be of the reason why, but came to the conclusion its because they know what they want and know what they are looking for and are much more mature.

Girls play hard to get because there afraid if they just come out and flirt they will be embaressed (i.e. the guy doesn't like them back, they get teased, or make a fool of themselves)! Also they have been told from the media that it makes them seem so much hotter! And they think that guys like the chase because that's what television has been telling us constantly!

That is why this site is made, so guys and girls can figure out the truth about each other. instead of relying on the false intel we get from the media. I've told all my female friends who played hard to get, who also had a hard time finding the right guys for them to be straight forward, and believe it or not, they were straight forward with guys, sure some got shot down, but those guys found the right girls for them and my female friends found the right guys for them.

Sometimes girls play hard to get because they are curious to see how far a guy will go for them. Guys almost need to prove themselves to girls before a relationship can happen. Also, other times girls play hard to get because they aren't interested in a relationship, they just enjoy flirting.

I guess I can somewhat understand the first part of what you said, but the way I am if a girl plays hard to get I'm not going to waste my time with her. However, if she was to give me a chance to be with her, I would go as far as need be for the girl I care about. Its that simple, if a guy likes you, he will want to be with you, but playing hard to get can push a guy away regardless. 2nd part is what I was talking about, just tell the guy that you just enjoy flirting and aren't interested in a

How would girls like it if a guy was to "play hard to get" just to basically f*** with the girls emotions in the end all because he enjoys flirting, while she was hoping for a relationship with the guy she likes, and possibly starting to like a lot. Guys have emotions too, but we don't openly show ours out to the world. Just be straight to the point don't beat around the bush.

It helps girls know that the guy is willing to fight for them and it shows that he is really into her and wants her to be his. I always play hard to get. It helps keep girls from falling for the wrong guy. If that makes any sense

They want to play games. What most of the times happens is the dude looses interest and ends up getting a girl who doesn’t want to play games. Then she sits there and acts like men are the problem.

There is many reasons why people do things. People are strange and everktne has their own reasons. But it’s stupid… if you want someone. Show interest or they will probably move on. Unless they’re a guy with no boundaries.

Most the people who will chase someone. Aren’t the type of person you want chasing you. It’s stalkers and unattractive people who are desperate. People with options don’t play games because they have people who will happily take them.
