Why does he want me to move closer to him?

I met a guy on an online dating site about a month ago. Problem is that I have to drive about an hour to see him and he always feels bad about that, even though I really don't mind. When I told him my sister lives nearby (and she's also close to my work) and how she wouldn't mind a roommate, he told me how badly he wants me to move in with my sister because he wants us to be closer so we can see each other more often. He said ultimately he wants me to be happy. I decided not to move in with my sister because she will charge me rent and have me pitch in for food. I am lucky to live with my parents where I agreed to babysit my younger brother and pay for my insurance and phone bill. In return, I get rent and food for free. Living bill free for the most part has been great because a majority of my money made goes into my savings. And I still have money for the mass amount of gas I have to get and I can buy myself nice things every month. If I move in with my sister, I will have to pay at least $700 more and that's a low estimate. Also, I will have way less money to put into my savings account. I will break the news to him, but I'm not sure how.

Can't he drive sometimes to see you too or you always have to go to him?
I mean if he feels bad you can either split the gas bills since you're going there for him.. And trust me you're not a gold digger if you do that. Or you can switch turns where you visit him, then he visits you then you do again etc

I've suggested that we meet each other halfway but there's not a lot to do in the city that is an equal driving distance for us both. I'll suggest he drive down to meet me more often because I know a few good places to go in my town because I've lived here all my life.

If he gives you a hard time about your very reasonable decision not to, he's probably not a nice person. Don't be scared of telling him what you think; if he wants to be with you, he'll have to take you as he finds you.

Thanks I came to a similar conclusion earlier. I remember a while ago my sister and I discussed moving in together but I backed out. I talked about this with my dad and he brought up the points I made in my question but said the decision lay on me. I considered it and to be honest with you, I don't think I would be considering it if he hadn't brought it up.

Just tell him you appreciate that he wants you to be closer but that it would be much better for you to continue to live with your parents. It doesn't keep you from seeing him regularly does it?

No I don't think so. The only big thing keeping us from seeing each is our work schedules. He just feels bad that I drive so far. I live in a rural area. Ever since I was young, my parents always told me that once I was of driving age, I would spend a lot of time driving because there's really nothing in my town. We have less 5,000 people in my town.
