Is it wrong for me to try and avoid my crush?

i really like him and I feel he likes me. but all he does is stare and smile and sometimes try to be near me. he never talks. he talks to so many other girls and it sometimes upsets me that he won't say anything to me. I want to avoid him for a week or two straight. if I still see him and avoid he won't think anything is wrong. this is what I usually do when he stares. so I have to cut off contact for awhile to show him I'm tired of just staring at each other. I'm too shy to talk to him first. he talked to me last year but we no longer share a class. I can't really see a relationship with him. we are complete opposites. he is the popular cute boy. and I'm the shy quiet loner girl, plus I'm cute!

well worth a try because it happened to me with this girl,we used to stare at each other and I really wanted to talk to her,but didn't know where to start as we don't have anything in common ,so I don't know she did inteionally or did it due to by being busy,she disapperead like 2 weeks,and I kept on missing her for whole 2 weeks and finally I felt maybe she moved to a diff place and was moving on,and suddenly she shows up and I felt so happy,thing with her and now I started to talking to her and now she is acting just like I did before,so I guess I am gonna play the same missing game on her by inteionally not showing up
