How do I stop avoiding my crush?

I've had a crush on a guy for a while and I avoid him like the plague. We've had small conversations but thats it. I have him in 3 of my classes and I legitimately have nearly no contact with him at all. And I don't really know how to stop avoiding him, because I've tried and it only comes out looking weird and forced.

You know how before a concert or play people get the jitters? And some people avoid it entirely to keep from feeling like that? It's like that.

But does the jitters stop you from going to a concert? I don't think so. Why? Because people want to experience something out of the ordinary. To miss out on a concert of a favorite band is a real bummer. Now let's say your a big fan and you got backstage passes would you let go of that opportunity? To talk to them? Know them? Me personally I wouldn't because it might be a once and a life time opportunity.
