Why is my crush avoiding me now?

A few months ago he started talking to me (Yes, he's the one who talked to me first) and was interested first. We talked a lot on Facebook and Skype, and we had really fun conversations. He did keep the conversations going and I knew he was interested. He is a bit nervous around me, and sometimes steals a glimpse every now and then. However, he's been kinda avoiding me a bit. Today after school when we crossed paths, he acted like I wasn't even there, RIGHT in front of him. Why is this? Yeah, I do blush when I talk to him. But he thinks it's cute because he smiles, and laughs if I say something dumb...but why the hell would he avoid me? I looked up to him (He's taller :D) but he didn't look at me or ANYTHING at all! Why is this?! Do guys avoid girls they like, or is he avoiding me because he's not interested anymore? Don't get me wrong, he's a very nice guy. A good guy who gets good grades, very mature, etc. He is NOT the player type. And on Friday he said hi to me on the class that I am with him, and I blushed, again lol. He said Hi, and I said hey back, but nothing else. Then went back to my seat. Now he is avoiding me/ WHY? Please help?!

Does he ignore you I've you say hi or try to start a conversation? And do you start conversations with him?

If not he may be doing exactly what I'm about to do, giving up on the girl I like because she never starts the conversations because if its alway the one person starting them then that says the other person doesn't like you. Period. It doesn't really matter what else happens because if the other person likes you they'll start the convo too.

And yes I'll avoid girls I like if I feel they don't like me at all

No, I actually have started the conversations recently. I started the conversation 2 times, and he said hey first afterward (in person) but...I said hey first twice...in a row...so why the hell wouldn't he want to say hi again? :/
