What does it mean when a guy says he doesn't want any titles?

OK. so me and my boyfriend broke up because like, people at school kept interfering with our relationship and I have trust issues so people at school were telling me they saw him talking to other girls in school and I did something stupid. it wasn't bad tho. and my boyfriend said I broke his heart. like, me and him still only talk to each other, but now he's saying that he doesn't want us to have any titles right now. help!

Not wanting 'titles' doesn't always mean he's looking for a way to scheme up multiple relaitonships with girls or is not ready to be in a committed relationship with just you.

The truth is, a lot of you girls become different people and act different (for better or worse) once you get that girlfriend/boyfriend title slapped on even when you've been exclusive with one person for awhile and that's pretty much already been understood.. And in this facbeook age, it's even more obvious. The moment people change that relationship status, their brain morphs and they start playing this boyfriend/girlfriend role they've built up in their head. It doesn't have to be that way...

If he is being exclusive with you, don't fret so much. If there are signs that he's only saying things to keep his options open, then keep your guard up. Because the other truth is, if you push it and he does agree that you are now his girlfriend, that doesn't mean he's going to stop scoping out his other options (if that's what he's doing).

In short, the title doesn't necessarily mean jack. Your relationship may be good or bad regardless of whether you are "official" or not.

BUT if a guy is telling you he doesn't want any titles right now (as if he's going to make you official later), you should check other signs to see how serious he is about you and be on guard.

For whatever reason there are certain situations where if it is known that you are dating someone, people want to mess with that relationship. The fact you allowed others to excite your insecurities by telling you that he was talking to other girls is terrible. People don't see it but that behavior is very menacing and not helpful. Furthermore, its hearsay and information offered second hand always sounds worse. Often guys are not that excitable and let stuff roll off their back. Your boyfriend was very hurt. In his mind better not to go through the drama again and just keep it simple. You are not mature and it will take some time for you to become so. Often young girls just need a lot of reassurance. Its normal. Until you know how to not let others define your reality better that you not torture yourself with another boyfriend. Unless you have hard evidence that someone is being untruthful, its very hurtful to others to accuse them of being so. he wants to hook up with you without commitment. sorry, but if a guy really likes you and wants to be with you he will want a Title so he can claim you. if there is no title then you're not his girlfriend and what if you meet another guy? a guy whos really into you won't want another guy to be able to snatch you away so he will want to make it official...unless of course he wants to keep his options open

A girl (or a guy) that wants to stray from the person they're supposed to be exclusive with will do so, title or no title.

Calling a girl you're girlfriend guarantees nothing. Mutual understanding of commitment, feelings, and exclusivity, title or no title, is what will keep someone by your side.

Cheating is an epidemic these days. Don't think you are safe and comfortable just because you have a boyfriend/girlfriend title.
