Why is it that guys/girls randomly stop talking to each other?

Ive heard so many times from both guys and girls, complaints like "we were talking for a little but he never talks to me anymore!" or guys saying to girls "you never text me anymore!"

If anyone has heard this or done this.. especially guys.. why is it that you randomly stop talking/texting someone?

me and this guy liked each other on and off in school for years and he stopped talking so I thought he lost interest and I stopped talking too, then he would see me after 6 months say hi again and start talking may be he missed me or felt attracted to me again I don't knw but I missed him too and would try to connect with him again we would talk for a week but then he would blow me off again and id ignore him getting pissed at him, and he would continue to flirt and make eye contact...

to this day I still don't know wtf his problem was and what he wanted for me. if I gave him all the attention wanted to go out I asked him out he would make excuses and blow me off and then when I backed off and ignored him he would get mad and try talking to me again...psycho I swear. glad its all over.

i recently stopped talking to my one guy friend, y'know, ignoring his texts, because I do NOT like him like that. so I'm hoping he'll get the meaning...

With me it's just a way to avoid conflict. It's the only way I know to distance myself from guy friends, and they rarely care or make a big deal out of it. As for the fairer sex, some girls turn out to be incredible drama queens if I tell them off, so it's easier to just stop talking to them. Anyway, it's always a matter of losing interest in them, or that they turn out to be obnoxious or annoying people and I won't bother making the effort to keep in touch.

me and this girl ignore one another but for now it has only been online but in person, were fine. The reason is I want to see if she will put that effort in to talk to me and not just want my attention

i was talking to my ex for 4 days, he texted me first and that conversation just carried on but he just didn't respond to one of my texts and hasn't talked to me since

i wasn't going to say anything but last night I send a happy new year symbol to him and a few other people. he never texted back to that either? but he's been on facebook

he could be worried he still cares about you or it could pain him talking to you or he is just being an ass or forgot about it or unsure of what to say, sorry I have no definite answer. to the new years thing some times people will text me things like happy new years, I just ignore it because I know they sent it to every one and I wouldent want to get flooded with a bunch of return messages myself so I don't say anything.

I was once interested in a girl so we texted/emailed a LOT. Then I realized no relationship was gonna happen cos I didn't like her that much but she was really intense and I know that saying I wasn't interested wasn't an option after the amount of talkin we did. So, I just ignored her texts/facebooks I knew she would understand what it means. She did and got over me quickly. I felt bad for a while but then it suddenly got way easier when she realised. Sorted.

I never text anyone. If they want to talk to me, they text me. If they don't, I wouldn't want to annoy them by texting them. Surprisingly effective, actually.
