Why can’t I keep a conversation going with a guy? They either ignore me but talk to other girls or when we talk they just mention something random?

Eye contact when you talk is good, as is having a good knowledge of the subject being discussed!

I do all those things. They’ll usually be awkward before they approach and I can hear them say that I’m pretty under their breath before they approach. But then they approach and the conversation is uncomfortable for him.

Oh well, in that case it's not you at fault, it's the guys who approach you. The way you worded your question, and the fact this happens with ALL guys told me it was you that needed to change, but following what you said above, I can now see they are either intimidated by you, or lack the skills to talk to women themselves!
