My girlfriend's best friend is hitting on me, what should I do?

I have been with my girlfriend for 6 months and everything is going great between us. But for the last couple of weeks, her best friend has hit on me when we hang out altogether. In particular, she rubs her foot on mine under the table.

I ignored it until now thinking she'd understand I am not interested, but she has done it on three occasions now and I'm starting to feel very uncomfortable and don't know what to do. Is the best thing to just keep ignoring it? Do some people on here had that happened to them, what did you do, how did it end?

In front of BFF: Ignore it. Don't react, don't look at her. At the earliest opportunity, get the heck away from her.

To your Girl: Tell her asap. Best is to start by mentioning that you'd like to avoid BFF -- not sit by her, etc. -- because she is doing the footsie thing. Tell your girl you don't want to make a big deal out of it, that you were ignoring it, and that you are just feeling uncomfortable with that level of...attention. Your her guy and want to keep it that way. :-)

WARNING: Your girl will probably take this up with her BFF. When she does, get ready for a whiplash -- BFF is likely to cop out and say you've been coming on to her for months. CONFUSION will follow and have to be sorted out. Just keep your distance from the footsie-loving BFF, okay?

hmmm I'm reading your other replies. I guess youcould make it REALLY obvious in front of your girlfriend and her best friend that you would never be interested in the best friend to get the message across to the best friend with your girlfriend sitting there...like let the door shut in her face and if your girlfriend or the friend says something say "what? she can fend for herself you're my woman" and kiss her. Stuff like that since you don't want to rock the boat with their friendship and you're afraid she'll talk smack to your girlfriend about you behind her back. I've seen guys do this type thing not in a mean way but it really let all the girls in the area know where his intentions were and where they werent gonna be!

You should let your girlfriend know what's going on. Two reasons why she will appreciate you telling her: If she knows, it will avoid the uncomfortable situation when she finds out about it (which she will) where she thinks you were going along with what her friend is doing (and in her mind, cheating), and the other reason is a friend who is trying to steal your boyfriend is no friend at all. She should know about it and she can make the decision from there.

You definitely want to do it soon, especially since its making you uncomfortable. Don't just passively endure this, its wrong of her friend and not your fault at all and she needs to stop.

I don't know how I can say it to her. They are best friends since 1st grade! I'm afraid she won't believe me or think I have done something to start that. I have the impression it'll blow up in my face.

this is either 1 of 2 things and it is usually the second one and DEFINITELY a possible of only these 2...1) maybe she does dig you and she might end up being the "i just banged my girls best friend" or 2) your girl is completely setting you up and they are both in on it and she's just trying to see what you would do...this happend to me TWICE! lets just say I "learned" the second time haha

confront her with your girlfriend there. so you have her as a witness. if you tell her about it, she may not believe it, she'll just go to her friend and just ask. Of course the friend will deny it. so that's DEF what you should do.

1. Talk to your girlfriend's friend about it. Seriously, go up to her and be like "Your best friend is my girlfriend. I love her, she loves me. I've noticed you've been hitting on me lately and it's making me really uncomfortable and nothing is going to happen between us!"

2. Tell your girlfriend what her friend is doing. Yes, it may mess up their friendship, but maybe her friend is who she thought she was after all.

3. Don't ignore it though. It'll just make the girl flirt with you more and more often and more obviously.

If you truly love your girlfriend, don't get involved with her best friend. Don't be stupid, do something about it.

That's what I was thinking, talking directly to her friend. I'm just thinking she might get pissed and bad mouth me after that though.

Tell your girlfriend that she is hitting on you.. IF you let it persist then her friend will eventually get pissed that her advances are being ignored and make up a lie that you are trying to talk to her.

I agree but I think she'll be even more pissed if I tell my girlfriend and the two of them get into an argument. I'm afraid she'll seek revenge. Like they're best friend, I'm expecting them to reconcile at some point and then her friend could be act negatively toward me then.

Next time she does that, say something like "is there not enough room for your feet under the table? Because they keep hitting mine..." I would be a smart ass about it.
