I've never cuddled but now I really want to. Suggestions?

I'm the type of girl that doesn't want to do anything with a guy unless I am with him. I kinda cuddled with my friend one night because we shared a bed but it was also very awkward. Recently I had my first boyfriend but it was long distance for a few months. He always told me how much he wanted to hold me and how much he was looking forward to it. I loved the idea of it plus I cared about him so much so I was looking forward to it too. We saw each other only once before he ended things, but we were with a group of friends and it wasn't the time or place to hold each other. Honestly, I want him back. But I just want to cuddle. I'd love it to be with him because I trust him more than anyone. I don't want to cuddle with a guy that I have no feelings for/vice versa.

I really just want to cuddle if I have feelings for someone and I still have feelings for him. He made it sound so nice and comfortable. I'm wondering if I should have tried harder to keep him. He always said if I tried leaving he woudln't let me (cuz I always leave relationships because I get scared) so now I'm wondering if I should have tried harder and not let him go :(
