He says he's not much of a hugger, but...

This guy I like; I want to hug him pretty badly. This girl I know walked over to us while we were talking and started flirting with him (which, pissed me off, but that is another story) and asked him if he wanted a hug. That girl and him had never met before so he said that he isn't much of a hugger. Actually he said "well, I don't even hug my own mom, so.."

I have been trying to muster up the courage for a while to hug him, and with that comment does that mean I should just forget about it? Will he be all blaah if I try and hug him?

One more question: Is it a dead give away that I like him if I do end up hugging him..?

He said that because he didn't want to hug that girl.. So he made it clear to he he "dosent" hug at all.. That way she's not afended badly and thinks its just him

As for is it a dead give away if you like him maybe.. It depends on how you hug him.. If he's a friend.. Then get a sad face when you see him run up to him and hug him real tight for a few min.. He will tence up but give it a second he'll hug you back.. He may ask what happend or if your ok.. Just tell him you wanted to hug somone..

This shows your opening up to him and you care about him without officially making him think you like him.. And remember girls can do this from time to time to friends for no reason.. Just not everyday.. Guys know girls have problems they can't or won't tell us..

But if he's some stranger and not your friend.. Then simply talk to him and be his friend first.. Then as your saying good bye.. Open your arms and show you want a hug.. Most people will hug you when you do this..

And yes if he really doesn't hug much he will tense up.. Don't take it the wrong way most guys tense up when they hug.. Its not a sign he likes you or a sign he doesn't like you.. Its just a guy being a guy..

So go for it
