Is cuddling and kissing between friends acceptable?

Alright, this is kinda weird. I've been talking to a guy friend online for a while, skype, Facebook, phone...all the time. He is like one of those I could talk to about basically everything. I don't really like telling my mates (well, in real life) about my problems and stuff. I met him on a dating site but had no intent to date him as he was kind of too attractive and I would feel insecure, so prefer to stay friends. And we talked to each other about girls and guys we date and all that.

So, he came to visit me, it was great as we have been talking for such a long time and we had a lot to talk about. He stayed over at my place as he lives quite far away. So we watched some movies, had some drinks and ended up cuddling to sleep (I prepared a guest room for him so wasn't planning on this) . We didn't have sex but when we woke up, he kissed me a few times. I moved my head at first as I didn't want to ruin the friendship but gave in at the end.

Then my flatmate knocked on the door asking for some stuff so we stopped. When we went out for some lunch, he kept asking me what if my mate didn't knock, would we still be in bed and what else could we have done. He texted and talked to me after he went home but it didn't feel the same anymore.

I feel like I ruined the friendship. He said he enjoyed the cuddles and kisses, I did too, but I prefer to keep the friendship.

He dates a lot of girls and I don't want to be one of the girls.

What should I do? should I just leave it for a while to forget about all the things that happened?

There were passionate kisses, not just a kiss on the cheek, so I kinda think it's not acceptable.

So I asked him not to mention it again as it feels a bit awkward to me. He said he can't do that because he is attracted to me and he wanted it. Arghh, why guys are so complicated?

if you're uncomfortable with it then I don't see why you're really askng the question. tell him you're uncomfortable with it. I've done the same with a few of my good friends who I trust with my secrets, I've slept over, we've had those passionate moments and kisses, and it has gone further, but I've never really felt uncomfortable with it because our friendship is strong and I trust them more than anything. maybe you should look into the discomfort you feel and see if its because you're not entirely confident that your friendship can make it through any physical attraction.

I'm a bit confused really, I did like it when it happened but part of me regretted doing it. I'm just worried we won't be as close as before because he keeps reminding me of it and what we talk about now is just kisses and cuddles. I think you're right, I'm not sure if the friendship is strong enough to make it through the physical attraction. This is so stupid, I should have not done it.

normally, I would say work on strengthening your friendship before you continue to explore the physical relationship. then, when you're more comfortable in your friendship, you can toy witht he idea of a relationship and if it doesn't work out, your friendship will still hold strong. since he's admitted he likes you an won't let go of what happened, my advice doesn't really work as well.

i think though that if you still want to see where it can go and don't want to lose the friendship, tell him you're not comfortable getting into anything until you're friendship is more developed. if he's not up for it, then maybe he isn't worth exploring a relationship with and isn't worth preserving a friendship with.

I don't think the friendship is ruined. your just friends that have cuddled and kissed. but if its feeling weird like you said, maybe you should should give yourself some space and take time, and then it should feel normal again.

I cuddle with my female friends all the time, though I tend to only kiss them on the cheek or forehead. For me, this wouldn't really arouse much suspicion at all if it weren't for the questions he asked later about what else you might have done. Sounds to me like he was testing the waters.

Testing the water? When he asked me that, I said nothing would happen and that I want us to be friends. He kept on texting me after about missing cuddles and hope to come see me again some times soon. I want things to go back to the way it was before, but if he comes see me again, I'm not sure if the cuddles and kisses won't happen again. They were great at the time, lol.

I think that's more than a friendship. I wish I had a friend like that though. lol At least for the cuddling.
