What’s the best way to start a conversation with a girl you have never met before?

Yesterday I walked past a girl on a street and thought she was really good looking and wanted to start a conversation but sadly, she hopped into a taxi 10 seconds after I had a thought of asking her for her number. Don’t want to lose my chance the next time, so what do you all think?

As @PrettyPriya says, you never approach a girl just like that for the sole purpose to ask her number.

This makes you look desperate because we all know what the final aim, the ultimate goal of asking a woman for her number, right?

I personally hate it when a total stranger approaches me out of the blue just to basically ask me if I am interested in having sex with that stranger. You may shake your head but isn't it what the goal is after all? You want her phone so that you can call her up and arrange to meet. Sure, in the beginning it is just to have a coffee but if you go to the end of your thoughts, what you really want is to get under her skirt.

And that is what I mean by the final aim and the ultimate goal.

yeah, i don’t want to tell a lot about this situation but it’s really not what you think about and I can tell I might’ve fallen in love from the first sight (i believe in love from the first sight haha) but thank you for your reply, i guess you have a valid point

Well if that girl was me and you just randomly approached me about my number, I would think you are desperate and a weirdo. You don't know if she was married or had a SO already. I'm not saying don't take your chances in life, but in this situation it was a no-go.

You could ask her for directions, make a comment and leave her an email address of yours.

That is awfully tough to do to a random girl who is on her way somewhere and likely busy. Best advice is not approaching a girl that is by herself.

Always better to approach those in a group that you notice talking to others. They will feel less threatened. Also, setting has a lot to do with it.

don’t worry, in my country we don’t have a problem with approaching random women because it’s really common and considered like something that is basic and they never worry about their safety. i kinda asked another question

That you might have better chances on instagram or tinder if you just go by looks ;D
If you want to go for it in real life you will likely not get the attention of someone who is about to hop in a taxi. So that girl was 'lost' anyway.
First get eye contact, more than just a quick glance. Best if you can get to smile at her and she will smile back. Then you go and say hi.
