Smile when you look at him, and try to make eye contact. If he doesn't pick up on that, approach him one on one over a drink (coffee, bar, hell, even a coke). Buying his would be a pretty good indicator you are interested in, at the very least, talking to him. When you do get his attention and are talking, keep eye contact. If you can't bring yourself to look into his eyes, look at the space between his eyebrows. As long as you aren't super close to him, he shouldn't notice. You can also try switching eyes when looking at him. Look at one eye for a second or two, then switch.
