Yeah I think you got it right. A connection is more emotional and/or mental. Usually when you have a connection with someone you feel you can be yourself around them, and they make you feel so comfortable. You feel like you've known them for such a long time. You could talk to them for hours. You complete each others' sentences. That kinda stuff.
Attraction is more physical. It's that can't take your eyes off them, butterflies in your stomach, tingly from his hand barely brushing yours, wanting to rip off their clothes and having your way with them right now if you could kind of feeling.
Attraction: Your usual physical wants in the person.
Connection: I could have a connection with a guy, dog or your mom, doesn't mean I want to hump.
I'd say attraction is more than likely physical, while connection can be both physical and emotional.
