I went out to dinner with my family tonight and had a really cute waitress. I got full and only had a few bites left, but didn’t think I could do it. She came over and asked if we were done. When I said I was, she said “you can definitely finish that, it’s only a couple of bites! I believe in you”. And once I finished she came by and said “now you can have dessert!” And every time I finished a drink (I had 2 beers) she was there just a few seconds after, and was always on top of my water whenever it got empty. Just all around a great waitress. Very attentive but great charisma too.

I bet she was acting this way to be good at her job, but it felt a little flirty to me too. I don’t go out a ton, but never had a cute waitress interact with me this way before.

Servers flirt for many reasons: tips, keep you coming back, their personality, and curiosity. If you want to find out if she is truly interested, go back and see if she becomes bolder with her attention. Always let her make the move, don't assume. This can be a tricky question because waitresses make a living off of tips as well as are expected to be professional this includes tolerating creepy and rude customers all the time because they bitch to management and get her in trouble if she’s rude. The second thing is that waitresses are humans who have feelings but they are at work so being too overly flirty can get them into trouble as well.

The best way to know because every situation is different is leave your number at the end when you’re done and be kind and see if she will take it. You waited until the end where you’re leaving and it won’t be super awkward if she says no.

But the best thing is observe how she is with other customers. Is she talking to you differently? Is she leaning in? Does she brush against you when she walks by you?

Oh and some places waitresses comp cute dudes (and waiters cute ladies) all the time if management allows it. So if she’s giving you freebies in addition to being hit on that’s a good sign. Because they don’t do that for everyone unless someone has a complaint.
