How should I approach my crush?

I’ve tried googling how I should approach my crush and all of the options just seem TOO bold. Like I’m pretty shy but at the same time I can start conversations with random people, but I just don’t know how to start a conversation with HIM. Like he’s really cute, quiet, etc, but everytime right when I’m about to approach him, I chicken out. I don't know if I should approach him with a compliment? A question? I don't know , I need help lmao. I also don’t want to come off either too assertive/creepy or too shy.

Guys tend to prefer being noticed and appreciated for things they say and do rather than how they look (which is out of their control). You can say you were impressed by the answer he gave the teacher in class. You can ask him for help. Guys tend to like being helpful. You can offer to help him. They are less likely to accept help, but it's a good way of being noticed. You can ask his opinion of something, though avoid controversial topics in the beginning. You can ask him about his hobbies or other interests. After you break the ice, you can ask him about his plans after he finishes his schooling.

It's all about showing curiosity without coming across as interrogating. Therefore, seek clarification about what he shares rather than jumping to a new question or turning the focus onto you. "In what way," "give me some examples," "Where might that take us," "How might that impact the results," etc. Show him you've heard him and want to make sure you understand him. Your responses will show him you are paying attention and care.

that’s actually really good advice but sadly I don’t take the same classes as him, I only see him during lunch and in the hallway LMAO- maybe I can ask him where he got his shoes because they look really nice and I’ve always wanted some shoes like that.

You could, but it would probably be better if you comment on something he says or does or ask him to help you with something.

But I’m not around him like that to know what he says or does 😭 also if I ask him to help me with something, I wouldn’t know what I would need help with or he’s probably not gonna know what to do.

It might be easier to come up with specifics if I could visualize your situation. You could ask a friend who knows him to share some of his interests. Then, you can come up to him and share you understand he has an interest in this thing and then ask his thoughts on some aspect of it. You could also carry a stack of books, and when you reach him stumble and 'accidentally' drop the books. See if he helps you pick them up or offer to carry them for you.
