What Girls Said
Be careful and ask yourself the pros and cons of dating someone you work with. I have seen a few guys that I bartend with date other bartenders and servers and have it not work out at all. If they get in a fight outside of work over something you always know because that brings awkwardness into work. Same thing can happen anywhere. I am not saying it can't work but just something to consider. If you do like her and want to give it a go then suggest doing something outside work hours. Don't do a lunch or try to get to know her that sorta way during work. Not only are you not doing your job your boss might pick up on it and not be happy.
I appreciate the advice a lot. The woman I am attracted to is my boss. I have a serious crush on her. I wouldn't want to ask her out now, but I am looking for another job and might ask her out than.
Sure no prob at all and think that is a solid idea to wait until you get the new job. No conflict of interest. Also she might be reluctant to date someone she is in charge of by way more open once you are at a different job.
She is one of the nicest people I've ever met but there are several potential issues...
a) is she being nice to me because I am her employee or does she really like me
b) I dont want her to think I quit my job just so I could ask her out
c) she is 4 year older than me and a friend told me women dont often date younger men
d) she may be dating someone already
A) Depends on what kind of "nice". Sure she is going to be cordial to her employees but that doesn't mean she doesn't like you.
B) I don't think that is what she would believe. Plus you can tell her the reason you are leaving when you hand in a notice.
C) At your age don't even sweat the age thing. It would be different if you are talking about 17 and 21 but 32 and 36 isn't much of a deal in my opinion.
D) No clue. She might be.
You do nothing. That is the only solution to your problem.
As a matter of fact, doing nothing is the solution because dating work colleagues has only negative sides to it. Dating work colleagues can cause jealousies and favoritism. It also worsens the work climate and substantially decrease your work quality and productivity since you do no longer concentrate on your tasks but have the head filled with nonsense.
Depending on where you work, it may even become a security issue for you and/or the company you work with. This will definitely get out of hand if that coworker is your direct superior or if you are her superior. That is when the work climate will deteriorate because others are not fools and will realize that there is a favored treatment between both of you.
If you are clever, then you simply don't date a work colleague. Never.
Never date or even try to date someone you work with. It is never a good idea.
sadly i agree
