In MMA class a guy saw a bruise on me & joked that he’d get the culprit. was he flirting?

I’ve been training a year and have seen this guy around but don’t really know him. He’s been training 10+ years so is very experienced. Today he picked me to roll with at one point. Then at the end of the class he saw a bruise on my leg and joked that next class he’d get the person that did that to me (like, in a roll at the gym kinda way). It kinda felt like he was flirting…or maybe just being protective of a less experienced girl at the gym. Thoughts?

Edit. I’ve actually not seen him at all since then…. turns out he was travelling in Asia for a couple of months. With his girlfriend 😆 oh well.

Hmm it's possible he could have been flirting, but in an MMA gym things can get misinterpreted easily too ya feel me? Here's what I think:

- He took interest to notice the bruise and offer to look out. Could be he likes you.

- But MMA dudes always talkin bout fighting haha, so maybe he just meant it in a competitive homie way.

- Been there 10 years means he respects the game - doubt he'd come onto a sis direct in class.

- Rolling with you shows he's cool enough to partner up.

If you're into him, I'd say see how he acts next class - does he make more conversation? Offer pointers? Try partners again? Then there's more sign he's feeling you.

Or it could just be gym talk. Either way, don't overthink. Just keep at your jits focus and let things unfold naturally, ya get what I'm sayin? You'll figure it out in time.

But hey, if you think he was flirtin and you're feelin it too, you could flirt back subtly. Show him some new submission on the mat! Just my 2 cents hah.

I mean I’m not even sure I’d date someone from the gym anyway, but I really liked him. He gave off great vibes, took the time to ask about my day, gave me tips and even let me submit him (let me bring the operative word haha). We shall see

Yeah, dating someone from the gym can definitely be tricky. But this guy seems really cool, and it sounds like you clicked with him too.

If you really liked hanging out with him, I say why not see where it leads? As long as you're both respectful at the gym and don't let anything weird happen there. Maybe try chatting with him a bit more after your next class together, see if he wants to grab a coffee or something low-key.

Who knows, it might turn into a really fun thing! And he sounds like he really knows his stuff training-wise, so having him as a teacher could be awesome too. I'd say give it a shot if you're feeling it, just take it slow at first. No need to overthink it - if it's meant to happen, it will. And if not, well, at least you've got a sick new training partner! No. I mean if that’s all he said in one year to you, I wouldn’t take it as flirting. He may have just been joking. Now if he continues to roll w you cause he finds a way to do so or picks on you, maybe calls you names, probably not. But seeing as how I did the same for 6 years, I doubt it. At least right now
