So my friends and I went to the beach and got ice cream. When the guy who was working the ice cream stand was handing me my ice cream, I complimented his necklace and he complimented my sweatshirt. I told him it was a song title from my favorite band. He then asked what band it was and of course I told him.

When I told my dad about this after I came home, he said ‘sounds like he was flirting.’ However, I think he was just being friendly to a customer. What do you guys think?

Somehow I completely forgot to add until now that when I said to him “I imagine you might want to know the name of the band” he went “oh yeah! As soon as I turned around I thought, ‘dang I lost the chance to ask her!’”

That's a difficult one-to-one make a call on without being there to see his reaction. One way to find out is go back for more ice cream and chat him up a bit more. If I was him I'd definitely be flirting as you're quite good looking.

There's not enough there to tell if he was flirting. If I had to say yes or no, it would be a no. He could have said all of that to anyone without flirting.
